Release v1.0.3 - UI Polish & Emote Support

πŸš€ Key Features & Improvements

  • Animated SVG Loading Spinner: Replaced the static text loading indicator on the Connect to Live button with a smooth SVG spinner and subtle connecting pulse effect.
  • Inline Emote Support: Added support for parsing and rendering custom live chat emotes directly in chat messages.
  • Platform Switch Controls: Improved input alignment and automatically disabled platform radio buttons during active connection attempts to prevent inconsistent state transitions.
  • Audio Playback Safety: Guarded gift sound notifications to ensure audio only plays when the overlay chat feed is actively visible.
  • Simplified Hotkeys: Streamlined application hotkeys to Ctrl+Alt+L (Lock/Unlock) and Ctrl+Alt+I (Toggle Interaction Mode).

πŸš€ v1.0.2 - Backend Migration & Stability Fixes

This release brings a major architectural overhaul to the backend server, significantly improving performance, maintainability, and resolving critical connection issues.

πŸ—οΈ Major Architectural Changes

  • Migrated Backend from Python to TypeScript/Node.js: Completely rewrote the Flask-based Python backend (server.py) into a native Node.js application (server.ts) using Express and Socket.io.
  • Native Integration: By moving to a Node.js backend, the Electron app now runs natively without relying on a separate Python executable (server.exe). This drastically reduces the application's footprint and simplifies the build process.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • YouTube Chat Crash Fixed: Fixed a critical bug where connecting to YouTube Live would crash the application with a Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'map') error. Implemented a persistent local patch to the youtube-chat dependency to handle edge-case payloads (like missing runs arrays in system messages and memberships) correctly.

πŸ› οΈ Under the Hood

  • Replaced the python-based web server with express and socket.io.
  • Integrated tiktok-live-connector and youtube-chat natively in TypeScript.
  • Added a new build:ts step to the build pipeline to compile TypeScript code into dist-ts/ before packaging with electron-builder.
  • Automated dependency patching using patch-package on post-install.
  • Removed deprecated Python scripts and legacy files (test_tt.py, server.exe, etc.).

@Asmodeus7999 Asmodeus7999 released this 25 Aug 07:33

v1.1.0 Changelog

Added

  • Standalone Windows desktop app β€” TiktokChat now runs as a floating, always-on-top overlay window via Electron, instead of requiring a browser tab
  • Bundled Python backend (server.exe) via PyInstaller β€” no Python installation or dependencies required on the machine running the app
  • Right-click context menu on the overlay with Refresh and Toggle DevTools options
  • Follow events now get their own icon and render properly in the main chat feed alongside chat and gift messages (previously could be silently overwritten by join events)
  • Like and join event columns now fade independently after a few seconds of inactivity, instead of both fading together
  • Error-only debug logging for the desktop app, writing to %APPDATA%\tiktokchat\debug.log when something goes wrong (backend crash, missing files, etc.)

Changed

  • Removed the join counter from the top stats bar (join events still show individually in the join feed)
  • Desktop backend now runs with a hidden console window instead of a visible terminal
  • Trimmed desktop app size by dropping unused language locales

Fixed

  • Backend now shuts down cleanly on app close (previously a dead code path meant the TikTok connection was never gracefully stopped)
  • Fixed a crash on startup in the packaged desktop build caused by a Werkzeug/Flask-SocketIO production-mode safety check
  • Fixed the packaged desktop app failing to find its own template/static files
