Stash 1.0.5 — automatic updates

Stash now keeps itself up to date, and saving history is dramatically lighter.

Automatic updates

• Stash checks for new versions once a day and verifies each update's signature before installing.
• New versions appear as a small badge in Stash rather than a pop-up. Choose to install them automatically in Settings → About.
• The update check is the only thing Stash sends over the network: a request to GitHub for the list of signed releases. It never includes your clips or anything that identifies you, and you can turn it off.
• This is the last version you need to install by hand. Future versions arrive automatically.

Faster, lighter history

• Each copy used to rewrite your entire history, images included. Now Stash writes only the new clip. On a 30 MB history, that is about 74 times less data written per copy.
• History takes less space on disk.
• Your existing history moves to the new format automatically the first time 1.0.5 opens.

Requires Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later.

Verification

Fresh macOS download checks passed on macOS 14, 15, and 26: Homebrew installation, signature and stapled ticket validation, Gatekeeper acceptance, normal/demo process startup, and uninstall. The update feed's EdDSA signature was verified against the downloaded DMG, and a local end-to-end test confirmed that Sparkle installs a validly signed update and rejects a tampered one. Interactive permissions and paste behavior are not covered by these tests.

Stash 1.0.4 — where clips came from

Know where every clip came from, a redesigned Settings, and a new app icon.

Where clips came from

• Each clip remembers the window it was copied from: the Slack channel, Terminal tab, or document title now appears next to the app name.
• Text copied from a web page in Chrome, Arc, Brave, or Edge remembers the page.
• Press ⌘O to go back: open the page or link, reveal a file in Finder, or switch to the app.
• Search matches window titles and pages too. Turn this off anytime in Settings → Privacy; doing so erases saved details.

• Redesigned to match the rest of Stash.
• Change the global shortcut (⌘⇧V by default).
• Open at login.
• Choose how many clips to keep, and see your clip count and disk usage.
• Excluded apps show their names and icons.
• Close Stash from Settings with your shortcut, ⌘W, or by clicking away.

Stash 1.0.3 — A simpler install

A simpler first install: open the disk image, drag Stash into Applications, then open Stash.

• Only Stash and Applications appear in the installer; the separate “Start here” text file is gone.
• A clear arrow and short instructions are built into the installer background.
• The app and installer are Developer ID signed, notarized by Apple, and include stapled notarization tickets.

Stash 1.0.2 — signed and notarized

Stash is now Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. Both the app and DMG carry stapled notarization tickets.

Apple silicon (M1 or later), macOS 14+. Download Stash-1.0.2-arm64.dmg, open it, and drag Stash into Applications. Open Stash and confirm the normal downloaded-app prompt. Official downloads no longer require the unsigned-app Open Anyway workaround.

Quick paste still requires your explicit Accessibility permission. When upgrading from an older ad-hoc signed release, you may need to remove and re-add Stash in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Your clipboard history and saved prompts remain local.

Verification

Apple accepted the app and installer. Local Gatekeeper assessment reports Notarized Developer ID. The app signature and both stapled tickets were verified, including the app inside the final DMG. All 40 isolated core checks passed.

Download the .sha256 file beside the DMG and run:

Fresh-Mac verification passed on macOS 14, 15, and 26: public Homebrew installation, signature and stapled-ticket validation, Gatekeeper acceptance, normal and sample-data process startup, and uninstall. The source build and all core checks also passed in CI. Interactive Accessibility consent and cross-app paste remain outside these automated checks.

Stash 1.0.1 — standalone resource loading fix

Fixes an installed-app resource lookup crash exposed by fresh-machine testing.

Version 1.0 could try to load a SwiftPM resource bundle from the developer's machine when looking up an optional service icon. This affected sample-data mode and could also affect normal use when displaying links. Installed apps now look only in their bundled resources; missing optional artwork falls back to the built-in glyphs.

This app is ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. If macOS blocks it, attempt to open it, then use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway if you trust the download. Optional Accessibility permission for quick paste may need to be re-enabled after updates.

Download the .sha256 file alongside the DMG and verify with shasum -a 256 -c Stash-1.0.1-arm64.dmg.sha256.

Fresh-machine verification

Public download tests passed on fresh Apple silicon runners running macOS 14, 15, and 26. Each installed the public Homebrew cask, verified the signature, kept normal and sample-data processes alive for 15 seconds each, and uninstalled successfully. No source checkout or app compilation was used.

These are automated installation/runtime smoke tests, not interactive acceptance tests. Gatekeeper rejects the unnotarized app as expected; the Open Anyway flow, Accessibility consent, and cross-app paste were not tested. GitHub runners include developer tools and are not factory-reset consumer Macs.

Stash 1.0

Stash's first public app download: a native, keyboard-first clipboard manager with local history, pinned clips, screenshots, and reusable prompts.

First launch

This build is ad-hoc signed, not Apple Developer ID signed or notarized. If macOS blocks it, attempt to open Stash, then select System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway and confirm only if you trust this release. Apple's instructions.

Choose Start collecting. Quick paste optionally requires Accessibility permission; copying works without it. After updates you may need to remove and re-add Stash under Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Quit Stash before upgrading.

Verification and source

Download the DMG and .sha256 file into the same directory, then run:

shasum -a 256 -c Stash-1.0-arm64.dmg.sha256

All 40 isolated core checks and Swift formatting checks passed. The release app's ad-hoc signature and the DMG integrity were verified on the build Mac. A clean-Mac Gatekeeper launch, Intel hardware, and older macOS versions have not been tested.
