What changed

• Updated the Kanto Gear Android host to upstream Gen1Recomp 0.1.72 and retains the fork's dual-display bridge.
• Added robust Android display routing for the Retroid Pocket 5 Dual Screen Add-on, including devices that expose the companion panel as an unflagged primary display.
• Uses a dedicated, focusable companion activity where Android requires it, while keeping touch, controller input and the game activity routed correctly.
• Rebinds the companion output after hotplug, screen toggles, standby and activity changes without blocking the game thread.
• Keeps diagnostics non-modal so generating a report no longer causes repeated "app isn't responding" warnings.
• Ignores the synthetic Right Shift event emitted by the AYN Thor screen-toggle service, preventing the hardware screen button from changing the in-game camera. Real keyboard and controller input are unaffected.

Install

Install gen1recomp-android-0.1.72-kanto.4.apk over the existing Gen1Recomp Android Test app. Do not uninstall first; the package ID and signing key are unchanged, so app data, ROM cache, saves and settings are retained.

Then install the matching Kanto Gear 1.3.0 mod ZIP. The Dramatic Shape Android fork is optional.

This is an unofficial Android public test host, not an official Gen1Recomp release. AYN Thor and Retroid Pocket 5 dual-screen paths were tested; GammaOS hardware is not yet verified. No ROM or game data is included.

What changed

• Updated the Android test host from Gen1Recomp 0.1.64 to upstream 0.1.69.
• Inherits upstream's new launcher UI and the gameplay, input, Fly, item-menu,
  battle-timing and mod-SDK fixes released in 0.1.65–0.1.69.
• Retains Kanto Gear's secondary-display targeting, touch-event, hotplug and
  asynchronous readback bridges.
• Keeps the separate package ID and signing key, so this installs over the
  previous Android test host without deleting its ROM cache, settings or saves.
• Automatic host updates remain disabled so an official APK cannot silently
  replace the companion bridge.

Install

Install gen1recomp-android-0.1.69-kanto.3.apk over the existing
Gen1Recomp Android Test app. Do not uninstall first. Then install the
matching Kanto Gear 1.2.0 mod ZIP; the Android Voxel 1.6.0 fork is the optional
recommended renderer for the complete tested setup.

This is an unofficial Android public test host, not an official Gen1Recomp
release. No ROM or game data is included.

This is an unofficial Android public test host for Kanto Gear, based on the
official Gen1Recomp 0.1.64 release. It is not an official Gen1Recomp build.

This APK is one part of the matched Kanto Gear Android release set. For the
complete tested experience, also install
Kanto Gear 1.1.0
and the recommended
Dramatic Shape Android fork 1.5.4-android.2.

Install or update

Install gen1recomp-android-0.1.64-kanto.2.apk over the existing
io.github.averageconsumer.gen1recomp.androidtest app. Do not uninstall first:
the package ID and signing key are unchanged so Android preserves ROM caches,
saves, settings and installed mods. An exported save backup is still
recommended for public test software.

Gen1Recomp 0.1.60 Kanto Gear Android test host

This is an unofficial Android test build for the
Kanto Gear 1.0.0 public test,
based on upstream Gen1Recomp 0.1.60. General Gen1Recomp users should use the
official project.

The APK adds the Android secondary-display, hotplug and touch bridge required
by Kanto Gear. It contains no ROM, ROM-derived data or bundled mods.

Install

1. Download gen1recomp-0.1.60-kanto-gear-android-test.apk.
2. Install it, open Gen1Recomp Android Test, and import your own supported
   US Pokemon Red, Blue or Yellow ROM.
3. Import the normal Kanto Gear mod ZIP from its release page.

The app uses package ID io.github.averageconsumer.gen1recomp.androidtest and
installs beside the official Gen1Recomp app. It therefore does not
automatically share that app's ROM cache or saves.

Future APKs from this fork use the same package ID and signing key. Install a
newer APK over this app to retain its ROM cache, saves and settings. Do not
uninstall it when updating; keep an exported save backup while testing.

Compatibility and limits

• Android only; APK includes arm64-v8a and armeabi-v7a native libraries.
• Verified on an AYN Thor running Android 13 and intended for comparable
  Android dual-display devices. Other display layouts and vendor Android
  changes still need community testing.
• This is a debuggable public test build, not a Play Store production build.
• Automatic self-updates are disabled so upstream packages cannot replace the
  Kanto Gear bridge. Updates are installed manually.

Please report host or display-integration problems in this fork. Do not send
fork-only issues to upstream unless they reproduce in the official build.
