What changed

  • Updated the Kanto Gear Android host to upstream Gen1Recomp 0.1.72 and retains the fork's dual-display bridge.
  • Added robust Android display routing for the Retroid Pocket 5 Dual Screen Add-on, including devices that expose the companion panel as an unflagged primary display.
  • Uses a dedicated, focusable companion activity where Android requires it, while keeping touch, controller input and the game activity routed correctly.
  • Rebinds the companion output after hotplug, screen toggles, standby and activity changes without blocking the game thread.
  • Keeps diagnostics non-modal so generating a report no longer causes repeated "app isn't responding" warnings.
  • Ignores the synthetic Right Shift event emitted by the AYN Thor screen-toggle service, preventing the hardware screen button from changing the in-game camera. Real keyboard and controller input are unaffected.

Special thanks to @Rocky5150 for patiently testing the Retroid Pocket 5 dual-screen support, collecting detailed diagnostics, and working with us for more than 24 hours to identify and verify these display-routing fixes.

Install

Install gen1recomp-android-0.1.72-kanto.4.apk over the existing Gen1Recomp Android Test app. Do not uninstall first; the package ID and signing key are unchanged, so app data, ROM cache, saves and settings are retained.

Then install the matching Kanto Gear 1.3.0 mod ZIP. The Dramatic Shape Android fork is optional.

This is an unofficial Android public test host, not an official Gen1Recomp release. AYN Thor and Retroid Pocket 5 dual-screen paths were tested; GammaOS hardware is not yet verified. No ROM or game data is included.
