The host APK and Kanto Gear must be used together. Kanto Gear works without Dramatic Shape. If you already use or want Dramatic Shape with Kanto Gear on Android, use the matching Voxel fork above; it contains the companion-screen battle HUD fixes needed to avoid empty gray or translucent panels on the main display.

What changed

  • Added live-switchable Modern Light and Modern Dark Gear themes while retaining all classic themes.
  • Reworked step tracking into a Trainer Card with badges, money, play time and Pokédex progress. Tap the step count for the full exact value and reset action.
  • Added optional TRIGGER TABS: L2/R2 cycle Kanto Gear pages when enabled. It remains off by default so other mods can use those controls.
  • Added MOD MENUS → KANTO GEAR when Modern UI is installed, keeping the global options list cleaner without changing Kanto Gear's own settings.
  • Updated the optional Voxel fork to official Dramatic Shape 1.7.0 and kept native top-screen navigation authoritative for menus rendered there.

Tested

The exact Kanto Gear archive passed all 33 compatibility checks. This matched set was tested on an AYN Thor running Android 13 across the overworld, entering a battle, the complete fight UI and returning to the overworld. The retained Retroid Pocket 5 display-routing path remains unchanged from the community-tested previous release.

Updating

The host stays at 0.1.75-kanto.5; no APK reinstall is needed if that version is already installed. Import Kanto-Gear-Mod-1.5.0.zip through MODS → Import mod .zip. If you use Dramatic Shape, replace it with the matching Voxel package from this release set.

This remains an unofficial Android public test release. Keep an exported save backup. No ROM, ROM-extracted asset or game data is included.
