prepare repository for use by evolutionary robotics class by:
- merge all applicable code from branches into the master repository
- correct known bug fixes
- update wiki and supporting documentation for the newest version of ARGoS
also:
- optimization of code, data structures, etc.
- research: why is ARGoS performing different from other simulations/robots
- video tutorials for using ARGoS and writing code with it
- use full iAnt code for swarmathon? or use modified competition specific version?
- ... integrate python?!
integrating GA component into ARGoS:
- standardize ARGoS output to be easy to use with GA
- add standard GA code as supplemental component and repo
This wiki is intended to serve as a comprehensive user manual for the iAnt-ARGoS plugin.
- Quick Start And Installation Guide
- iAnt-ARGoS Frequently Asked Questions
- iAnt-ARGoS Code and Wiki TODO List
Below are helpful links to important information and guides that will help you get up and running with ARGoS and with the iAnt-ARGoS CPFA simulation plugin.
- Running Experiments: How to run experiments and get started with the iAnt-ARGoS plugin.
- XML Configuration File: Here is a complete breakdown of the XML configuration file that is required to run an ARGoS experiment using iAnts.
- Compiling iAnt Code: An extension of the quick start guide in the README.md file with additional information.
- ARGoS Installation Guide: An extension of the quick start guide in the README.md file with additional information.
| How do I edit CPFA parameters? | CPFA Parameters are passed into ARGoS via the XML configuration file. |
| How do I change the number of robots? | The number of robots in the simulation are adjusted via the XML configuration file. |
| How are food tags placed within the environment? | Currently three distribution schemes are available: random, clustered, and power law. |
| How do I generate an output file? | There is a flag in the ARGoS XML file that will produce an output file after an experiment or when ARGoS is stopped/reset. |
| How do I customize the output file? | You can edit the code found in the iAnt_loop_functions class. |
| How do I remove the GUI and visualization? | The GUI can be disabled by commenting out the visualization section of the XML file. |
- Enhance and maintain the XML file tutorial.
- Add more clear information on default values for XML variables.
- Make sure all links work properly.
- Review and edit page for clarity and depth of information.
- Write a schematic guide to the iAnt class structure.
- Write a script tutorial for running ARGoS and setting up multi-experiment runs.
- Write a detailed guide for downloading and using the ARGoS examples.
- Document and comment the ARGoS code!
- Make notes about grid allignment: i.e., (X,Y) coordinate system is reversed and mirrored!
