Free, offline-first Bible study desktop app for Windows (Tauri + Rust + React).

What's new in 2.4.2

  • More places to download from. Library → Get more now has a From selector: CrossWire, eBible.org (about 1,500 Bibles in a very wide range of languages), the NET Bible free edition, Wycliffe, and CrossWire's Attic and Beta collections. The 1933/1953 Afrikaanse Bybel is pinned at the top of the CrossWire list.
  • Add your own books. Library → Add from file takes an EPUB e-book, a PDF book or a SWORD module. The app checks the whole file first and shows what it found; nothing is added until you confirm. Copy-protected, password-protected, scanned and damaged files are refused with the reason. Files stay on your computer.
  • Finding your place in a book. A slider across the whole book, page numbers and "go to page" for PDF books, and every book reopens where you stopped.
  • Listen from here in books: reads from the paragraph you're on and carries on through the book.
  • Books in the book list. Downloaded and added books appear under Books in the left-hand list and open in the main reading area.
  • Apocrypha. A Bible that includes the Apocrypha (such as the KJVA) now keeps those books; they're listed under Apocrypha while you read that Bible.
  • Apocrypha cross-references. 2,990 links between the Apocrypha and the 66 books, taken from the reference notes of the Swedish Bible (1917), the World English Bible / Revised Version (1895) and the Menge-Bibel (1939). In the cross-reference graph they are drawn as their own kind of node and always marked as outside the canon of Scripture; each link names the Bible it comes from.
  • Words in Bibles without word tagging (most downloaded Bibles, and side-by-side columns) now open the Hebrew/Greek words of their verse.
  • Getting started window that shows where the optional extras are: the natural voice, the Library, Bible pictures and online translations.

If you already have 2.4.0 or 2.4.1, the app offers this update itself (or use Settings → Updates → Check for updates now).

Downloads

  • BibleConcordance_2.4.2_x64-setup.exe: NSIS installer (recommended)
  • BibleConcordance_2.4.2_x64_en-US.msi: MSI installer

Windows 10/11, 64-bit. If you have 2.3.0 or older, install this version once by hand; later versions will then be offered inside the app. Your notes, highlights and bookmarks are kept.

The installer is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen will warn on the first run: click "More info" → "Run anyway". (Updates themselves are signed and checked by the app before they're installed.)

The .sig files and latest.json are used by the app's updater. You don't need to download them. The natural read-aloud voice (a one-time download inside the app) is still the one attached to the v2.4.0 release.
