@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Oct 01:00

Native Jellyfin movies and TV for jailbroken PS5. Download the folder ZIP and install the complete PPSA99001 folder. Firmware 8.20 is the main tested setup.

Changes

  • Settings → Audio & video: enable/disable HDMI passthrough, PS5 CPU decoding of compatible TrueHD/DTS/E-AC-3, and Dolby Vision's HDR10-compatible base-layer fallback. No marker files or config editing. Old marker choices migrate once; settings survive updates.
  • TrueHD decoding preference fixed: an enabled compatible PS5 CPU decoder takes priority over server TrueHD → E-AC-3 conversion. DTS/E-AC-3 passthrough still takes priority when enabled.
  • One Skip Intro button: Square skips with or without the timeline visible. Cross retains pause/select. Open audio/subtitle/quality panels hide the intro prompt.
  • Clearer playback information: separates original file, stream received, video decoder, audio decoder, quality ceiling, stream bitrate and network rate. The details sheet no longer calls HDMI-passthrough audio “decoded on this PS5.”
  • Documentation: removes routine search promotion, focuses on DualSense features and supported media, and states explicitly that Jellyfin transcodes while the PS5 or receiver decodes. Music, audiobooks, books/comics, photo libraries and live TV are not implemented.
  • Includes the previously drafted circular avatar editor, shared rounded controls and Settings → Updates.

Install and future updates

01.000.000 lacks the updater and needs one manual folder upgrade to this combined release. Close SlopFin before replacing the folder. Keep /data/slopfin/config.json to preserve sign-in and preferences.

Later folder releases can be checked/downloaded/installed from Settings → Updates with elfldr running on port 9021. Final console download/install/restart verification remains pending for this build; the development console's elfldr was unavailable. Host archive, verification and rollback tests pass. Manual folder installation remains available.

Tested behaviour and limits

  • Local tests, Linux build, PS5 software-audio build, static FSELF verification and lint passed; the release workflow independently validates the packaged downloads.
  • TrueHD 5.1, E-AC-3 stereo/5.1 and DTS 5.1 CPU decoder fixture output exactly matched independent reference PCM in the new Linux check. Existing console video/audio trial evidence is documented separately.
  • Native AC-3 5.1, E-AC-3 7.1 and DTS 5.1 compressed passthrough was heard on the test TV on 2026-09-15; DTS also showed its badge. This bypasses SlopFin PCM. TrueHD passthrough trials produced beeping/silence and did not pass.
  • Native HDR10 HDMI signalling/brightness, other receivers and physical speaker routing still need wider validation. TrueHD PCM has no Atmos objects; DTS passthrough carries only the core. There is no native Dolby Vision, TrueHD passthrough, DTS-HD or DTS:X output claim.
  • Experimental PKG: contents/build checks pass, but mounting stalls before app startup on the test console. Use the folder ZIP.

@BeLikeBrett BeLikeBrett released this 03 Oct 12:49

A native Jellyfin movie and TV client for jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles. Firmware 8.20 is the tested setup. Use the folder ZIP for normal installation.

Highlights

  • Adaptive-trigger seeking: L2 rewinds and R2 moves forward, with physical trigger resistance. Tap for a one-second adjustment; hold and press deeper for faster scrubbing. D-pad taps seek ten seconds and L1/R1 jump two minutes.
  • Autoplay per series: keep one show playing and stop after an episode of another. Includes Up Next and configurable inactivity prompts.
  • Grouped search: separate Movies, Series and Episodes rows keep a matching show visible among episode results. Text entry uses the PlayStation keyboard.
  • Native hardware decoding: H.264 and HEVC use the PS5 decoder. Jellyfin can convert unsupported audio while keeping compatible video.

Resume, audio/subtitle selection, quality settings and metadata-based Skip Intro are included. Intro seeks were checked on South Park and The Office. Administrator accounts also have a controller-accessible server dashboard.

Downloads

  • Folder ZIP — recommended: extract and transfer the entire PPSA99001 folder through your homebrew loader. Close SlopFin before replacing files; keep /data/slopfin/config.json for sign-in and preferences.
  • Native PKG — experimental: package verification and installation passed, but launch stalls during package mounting before SlopFin starts. Native package status.
  • FFmpeg source: matching source for the optional software-audio decoder included in the builds.
  • SHA256SUMS: checksums for the downloads. SlopFin source is available with this tag.

Playback limits and help

Console audio supports AAC/MP3/AC-3 to PCM. HDMI AC-3/E-AC-3/DTS-core output and opt-in CPU E-AC-3/DTS-core/TrueHD decoding remain experimental. 4K decoding currently renders through a 1920-wide presentation path. HDR10 output is experimental; there is no native Dolby Vision output or general Atmos/DTS:X preservation.
