Multi Company Export
This guide explains how to configure and use the Multi-Company Export feature in bc2adls, which allows you to manage and export data from multiple Business Central companies from a single centralized page.

The Export Companies to Azure Data Lake Storage page (Page 82566) provides a centralized view for exporting data across multiple Business Central companies. Instead of switching between companies and configuring exports individually, you can:
- ✅ Add multiple companies to a single export configuration
- ✅ View table status, timestamps, and errors per company
- ✅ Export all companies or selected companies with one action
- ✅ Schedule exports with a single Job Queue entry that iterates across all selected companies
- ✅ Monitor job queue status per company directly from the page
- Open Business Central
- Search for Export Companies to Azure Data Lake Storage
- The page opens with the current company already listed
- In the top list, add the companies you want to export data from
- Select a company from the Sync Company lookup (only non-evaluation companies are shown)
- Repeat for each company you want to include
When you add a company, all tables that are currently configured for export are automatically associated with that company.
- Select a company in the top list
- The Company Tables subpage at the bottom shows all tables configured for that company
- For each table you can see:
- Table ID and Table Caption
- # Fields selected — number of fields chosen for export
- No. of Records — record count in that company's database
- Last exported state — status of the most recent export
- Last started at — timestamp of the last export attempt
- Last error — error message if the last export failed
The Company Tables subpage provides several actions for managing the export configuration per company:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Add | Add a new table to the export configuration |
| Delete | Remove a table from the export list |
| Choose fields | Select which fields of a table to export |
| Reset | Reset selected tables to re-export all data (current company or all companies) |
| Execution logs | View export logs for a specific table and company |
| Import / Export | Import or export the bc2adls table and field configuration via XML |
| Assign Export Category | Assign an export category to selected tables for grouped scheduling |
| Refresh | Refresh the last run state for all tables |
- Click the Export All Companies action in the ribbon
- The system spawns export sessions for each company sequentially
- Each company's tables are exported before moving to the next company
- A message confirms how many tables and companies are included
- Select one or more companies in the top list
- Click Export Selected Company action
- Only the selected companies will be exported
Click Stop export to cancel all running export sessions across all companies.
Click Schema export to export the schema of all configured tables to the data lake. This should be done before the first data export. Use Clear schema export date if you need to re-export the schema after making changes.
Important: When scheduling exports from the Multi-Company Export page, you only need to create one Job Queue entry. This single job iterates across all selected companies automatically. This is different from the per-company scheduling described in the Scheduling Exports page, where you would need to create a separate Job Queue entry in each company.
- On the Export Companies to Azure Data Lake Storage page, click the Schedule export action
- A request page opens where you can configure:
- Description — a label for the job queue entry
- Earliest Start Date/Time — when the job should first run
- No. of minutes between runs — the recurrence interval
- Recurrence days — which days of the week the job should run
After configuring the schedule, the Job Queue Entry is created and can be set to Ready to start running automatically.
The Multi-Company Export page shows job queue information directly in the company list:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Job Object ID | The object ID of the scheduled job queue entry |
| Job Object Caption | The caption of the scheduled report |
| Job Status | Current status of the job (Ready, In Process, Error, On Hold, etc.) |
| Earliest Start | The next scheduled start date/time |
Click on the Job Object Caption to drill down into the Job Queue Entries for a specific company.
Use the Job Queue action in the navigation area to view all job queue entries related to the multi-company export.
| Approach | Job Queues Needed | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-Company Export page | 1 (iterates across companies) | Centralized management, sequential export |
| Per-Company scheduling (Scheduling Exports) | 1 per company | Independent schedules, parallel execution |
When using the Multi-Company Export page, the export runs sequentially — it finishes exporting one company before starting the next. This ensures no resource contention between companies but means the total export time is the sum of all companies.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Export All Companies | Start export for all configured companies |
| Export Selected Company | Start export for selected companies only |
| Stop export | Stop all running export sessions |
| Schema export | Export table schemas to the data lake |
| Clear schema export date | Clear the schema exported date to allow re-export |
| Schedule export | Create a recurring Job Queue entry for multi-company export |
| Clear tracked deleted records | Remove already-exported entries from the deleted records list |
| Action | Description |
