Quick Start (Snapmaker U1)

Go from a stock Snapmaker U1 to a printer ready for plugins in about 10 minutes. Most of that time is the printer rebooting once on its own. You never touch a terminal.

Before you start

• A Snapmaker U1 on your network (through WiFi or Ethernet).
• The Bespok3d app on your computer (macOS, Windows, or Linux). See Install Bespok3d if you do not have it yet.
• Your printer should have Root access enabled.
• Your printer's SSH password. On a factory printer, this is snapmaker. You only enter it once, during setup.

Your computer and your printer must be on the same network.

Step 0 - Enable root access

Before you begin, your printer needs to have Root Access enabled. To do so, go to your printer's screen, tap the settings button, then Maintenance, then Root Access, scroll the disclaimer all the way down, select Agree, and then tap on Open.

Step 1 - Add your printer

Open Bespok3d and click Add printer in the top bar.

• If your printer shows up in the list, pick it. Bespok3d finds printers on your network for you.
• If it does not show up, switch to Manual and type its IP address (you can read the address on the printer's own touchscreen, under Settings then Network).

Your printer now appears in the top bar with a status dot. Right now it is online but not yet set up.

Step 2 - Set it up (enroll)

Setup installs the small Bespok3d base onto your printer so it can run plugins. You do this once.

1. Click Enroll next to your printer.
2. Enter your printer's SSH login (user root, password snapmaker on a factory printer).
3. Click Start.

Bespok3d walks through setup and shows each step as it goes. Your printer reboots once during setup. That is normal. The app waits for it to come back on its own, so you can leave it be.

Setup takes about 3 to 8 minutes, depending on your network and how quickly the printer reboots. If a step ever fails (usually a brief network hiccup), the screen tells you which one and offers Retry, which picks up where it left off without redoing the earlier steps.

Step 3 - Confirm it is ready

When setup finishes, the printer's status dot turns green and reads managed. That means Bespok3d is running on your printer and ready for plugins.

Step 4 - Install a plugin

The plugin store opens in the main window. Browse it, search it, and click any plugin to see what it does and what it needs.

Click Install on a plugin, and Bespok3d sends it to your printer and shows live progress. It appears in your installed list right away. To remove it later, open the plugin and click Uninstall; your printer goes back to how it was. See Plugins for the full walkthrough.

After a firmware update

A Snapmaker firmware update never loses your plugins. Bespok3d notices the update and shows a recovery banner; one click puts everything back. Full details are on the Troubleshooting page.

If something looks stuck

• Your printer is not in the list. Some guest and office networks hide printers from other devices. Use the Manual option with the printer's IP address instead.
• The printer does not come back after the reboot. Give it a full minute; the U1 takes a while to boot. If it still does not reconnect, make sure it is powered on and use Retry.
• Setup finished but the dot is not green yet. The app rechecks every few seconds. Wait one cycle, or reopen Settings, then Printers to force a fresh check.
