• Diagnostics remain available when drive discovery fails, without widening the popover
  or reporting an incomplete preparation as Ready.

Compatibility and feedback

The official notarized build 31304 passes native M5/macOS 26.6.2 write, flush,
unmount/remount and SHA-256 checks for NTFS, ext2, ext3 and ext4. Each filesystem
was tested separately. App/helper updates and simultaneous NTFS/EXT detection
were also checked. The same app passes Gatekeeper and UI/diagnostic checks in Sonoma.

Native M5/macOS 26.6.2 testing and local Sonoma 14.6.1 VM checks are recorded
separately in the validation record.
The Sonoma VM validates app behavior, not filesystem read/write: its nested
Hypervisor access is unavailable. Other Mac/OS combinations remain community-preview
coverage, not a universal compatibility guarantee.

What’s changed

• Completed the issue #24 runtime fix by isolating registry and authentication inputs and preventing stale scans during helper setup.
• Corrected no-drive startup, Full Disk Access, mount, and Diagnostics states.
• Diagnostics now refresh after mount changes and report read-only causes only when confirmed.
• Removed the unsafe forced read/write override, renamed Open to Open in Finder, and fixed stale drive counts after disconnection.
• Includes Standard and Legacy Apple Silicon installers for macOS 13 or newer.

ntfsmac 3.1.1 is a patch release for issue #24.

• Fixes runtime initialization when optional user container-registry metadata is unreadable.
• Shows a retryable drive-check error instead of reporting that no drive is connected.
• Applies to both Standard and Legacy builds.

The fix does not modify the disk or the user's container configuration.

Use the Standard DMG for normal installation. Use Legacy only when the Standard helper cannot be approved. Both DMGs are Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized, stapled, and include SHA-256 checksums.

Installation

Download ntfsmac-3.1.0-Apple-Silicon.dmg for the standard installation. Use the Legacy DMG only when the standard helper cannot be approved on the target Mac.

Both DMGs are Developer ID signed, notarized, stapled, and accompanied by portable SHA-256 checksum files.

The first BinaryBears release of ntfsmac: an open-source menu-bar app for mounting supported NTFS and ext volumes on Apple Silicon Macs.

Install

1. Download ntfsmac-3.0.0-Apple-Silicon.dmg.
2. Drag ntfsmac to Applications and open it.
3. Approve the privileged helper and Full Disk Access only when macOS requests them.

Requires Apple Silicon and macOS 13 or newer. The helper can appear in macOS under its technical reverse-DNS name.

Version 3 is the current supported line. It will become the legacy line only after the future P2 implementation is integrated, tested, and released.
