SCP-012 — A Bad Composition

SCP-012 is an unfinished musical composition stored in a staged containment box. Once opened, it exerts a progressively stronger influence over nearby Survival players.

Containment and commands

The containment model includes closed, opening, open, and closing states.

Available commands:

/scp012 open [x y z]
/scp012 close [x y z]
/scp012 toggle [x y z]
/scp012 status [x y z]

Coordinates are optional. Without them, the command searches for the nearest containment box.

Influence range

SCP-012 has a ten-block influence range.

Inside that range it can:

  • attract the player toward the composition;
  • use short-range pathfinding to steer around nearby obstacles;
  • progressively pull the camera toward the object;
  • add a radial vignette, visual interference, and subliminal overlays;
  • become increasingly difficult to resist at close range.

Psychosis begins during the approach and intensifies with proximity and contact rather than appearing only after damage starts.

Damage and Bleeding

Damage occurs irregularly in the immediate contact zone.

After cumulative SCP-012 damage reaches 25% of the player's maximum health, the action bar describes the player cutting their wrist.

Remaining in the uninterrupted final damage sequence for fifteen seconds is fatal.

A single exposure that removes at least 40% of maximum health applies Bleeding. Bleeding:

  • changes the health presentation to red;
  • causes gradual, potentially lethal blood loss;
  • plays randomized bleeding sounds with subtle pitch variation as further health thresholds are lost;
  • persists until the player receives actual healing.

SCP-079 interaction

When SCP-079 System Control is enabled, entering SCP-012's influence range can spring the trap immediately.

SCP-079 first attempts to command a functional connected Default, Yellow, or Black heavy door that lies in the route, then begins opening the SCP-012 box in the same tick.

SCP-714 does not prevent SCP-079 from controlling the door or containment box; it protects the wearer from SCP-012 itself.

SCP-714 protection

SCP-714 blocks or clears:

  • attraction;
  • forced camera movement;
  • trance audio;
  • psychosis overlays;
  • contact progression.

Bleeding already caused before equipping the ring is a physical condition and is not removed merely by gaining mental protection.
