- No toolbar overlap — Quick Open remains exactly centered while update, clock, workspace, terminal, AI and window controls keep a safe gap.
- Compact update control — the update notification becomes a 30 px icon before the toolbar becomes crowded.
- Intentional popover — update details open only on click instead of accidental hover.
- Reliable dismissal — click outside or press Escape to close the update card.
