Fixelect v1.4.2
Fixelect v1.4.2 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.4.2
- Faster, especially without a graphics card.
- A fix right after a Polish no longer stalls: it used to take 5 seconds or more on a laptop processor (and up to 13 seconds in some cases), now about 1 second.
- After a break, when Fixelect has freed the model's memory, the first fix is ready in about half the time. Fixelect now keeps its own instructions ready on disk, so it doesn't read them all again every time the model loads.
- Everyday fixes are quicker too: up to a third faster on a processor, with less waiting around every fix.
- Translate to Uzbek (beta). Uzbek is always listed under Translate. It needs the Gemma 4 E2B model; with another model, Fixelect tells you how to switch.
Fixes
- Translating into Spanish, Italian and French failed with "Couldn't translate this" even though the translation was fine. Fixed, and texts that the AI used to hand back untranslated (for example from Spanish or Uzbek) are now translated.
- Translations, Polish and your own actions no longer drop quotation marks you typed.
- Choosing a model from the tray menu now really switches to it.
- If the Polish preview failed to open, every shortcut stopped working until Fixelect was restarted. Fixed.
- Uninstalling now also removes your History (your recent changes) and Fixelect's other data. Your downloaded models are still only removed if you say so.
- History shows the right app for quick actions.
- Closing Settings while a model downloads still switches to it when the download finishes.
- Mac: the quick-action menu closes when you click somewhere else (it used to keep catching your typing), a large image on the clipboard no longer delays the shortcut, and Gemma 4 can no longer be mixed up with a small Qwen model installed by Ollama.
Download
- Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit):
FixelectSetup.exe - macOS 11+ (Apple Silicon):
Fixelect.dmg
Each file has a .sha256 checksum next to it. Fixelect's built-in updater verifies it automatically.
First launch: if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info → Run anyway. On a Mac, if it says Fixelect can't be opened, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway, or paste xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Fixelect.app && open /Applications/Fixelect.app into Terminal. Builds are signed automatically once the project has signing certificates.
Highlights
- Fix (double-tap Alt / ⌥) keeps your voice; Polish (double-tap Ctrl on Windows, ⇧ Shift on Mac) shows a preview with Professional, Friendly, Concise, Formal and Shorter styles.
- An on-screen card shows progress and results, with one-click Undo.
- Formatting (bold, links, fonts) is kept in Word, Outlook, Google Docs and Gmail.
- English plus Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian and Ukrainian. Uzbek (beta) with the optional Gemma 4 model.
- Turn Fixelect off for specific apps; terminals and password managers are off by default.
- Frees the model's memory when idle; long text is processed in chunks you can cancel with Esc.
Fixelect v1.4.1
Fixelect v1.4.1 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.4.1
- Too slow on your computer? Fixelect tells you. If the AI model answers slowly on your computer day after day, Fixelect offers a smaller, faster model once: "Fixes are slow on this computer" with Switch and Keep. Switch downloads the smaller model in the background and moves to it; Keep means it never asks again.
- It measures the engine's speed, not how long your text is, so long texts never count as slow.
- One busy hour (an update or a game) never triggers it: it needs slow answers on at least two different days.
- Fixelect never switches models by itself.
Fixes
- On-screen cards with a longer message and two buttons no longer cut off the second button.

Fixelect v1.4.0
Fixelect v1.4.0 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.4.0
- More mistakes fixed. Fixelect now catches common learner mistakes it used to leave alone: the train already left → had already left, depend of → depend on, discussed about → discussed, I am agree → I agree, excepted → accepted, and text-speak like r u coming tonite → are you coming tonight. On our hardest test texts, fixes rose from 12 to 16 out of 20 with Gemma 4.
- Gemma 4 E2B is the new recommended model. In our tests it fixed the most: 16 of 20 hard texts, against 10 for Qwen 2.5 3B. It also did best in other languages (18 of 18) and Uzbek, and ran as fast as the 3B, both with and without a graphics card. Qwen 2.5 1.5B stays the pick for smaller computers. Your current model is not changed; switch in Settings → Model.
- Technical words are safe. Words like crashlooping or healthcheck are no longer "corrected" into different words.
Tested, not added
- Qwen 3.5 2B and 4B (2026). Qwen 3.5 4B is the smartest on its own, but it is 3× slower with a graphics card and takes about 10 seconds per fix without one. Once Fixelect's filter is applied, it still fixes slightly less than Gemma 4. We'll look again when the engine runs them faster.

Fixelect v1.3.0
Fixelect v1.3.0 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.3.0
- See what changed. After a fix, the card lists the corrected words, like teh → the · beleive → believe · +2 more.
- Fix without selecting. Nothing selected? The shortcut fixes the line you're typing, from its start to the cursor. Turn it off in Settings → Writing.
- History. Settings → History lists your last 30 changes with Copy original and Copy result, so a bad fix can be recovered after Undo is gone. It's kept only on your computer. Turn it off or clear it there.
Fixes
- A cancelled or broken update download no longer leaves a half-written installer behind.
- The DeepSeek R1 model is no longer offered. It thinks out loud before answering, which made fixes slow. If you used it, Fixelect switches you to Qwen 2.5 1.5B, which is the same size.
- Model downloads now use the same code on Windows and macOS, with new tests for resuming, cancelling and checksum checks.

Fixelect v1.2.1
Fixelect v1.2.1 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.2.1
- New quick-action shortcut. The menu now opens with double-tap Shift on Windows and ⌃ ⇧ Space on a Mac. The 1.2.0 shortcuts clashed with other apps: Ctrl + Alt + Space is the Claude app's shortcut on Windows, and ⌃ ⌥ Space switches the keyboard language on a Mac. If you had the old shortcut, Fixelect moves you to the new one automatically.
- Choose your own. Settings → Actions has a shortcut recorder and a Reset button. On Windows it tells you when another app already uses the shortcut you picked.
- Typing capitals or Shift-clicking a selection never opens the menu: a key or a click between the two taps cancels them.

Fixelect v1.2.0 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.2.0
- Quick actions. Select text and press Ctrl + Alt + Space (Windows) or ⌃ ⌥ Space (Mac) for a menu at your text: Fix, Polish, Polish in another style, Translate, and your own actions. Press a number to choose, or use the arrow keys and Enter.
- Translate into English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian or Ukrainian (plus Uzbek with the Gemma 4 model), right where you type. Long text is translated piece by piece; Esc cancels. Like everything in Fixelect, it runs offline.
- Your own actions. Two examples to start ("Bullet points" and "Summarize"); add your own under Settings → Actions, like "Reply politely" or "Make it sound like me". Each one gets a number in the menu.
- Every release is now tested end to end on Windows too: installed from the real installer, then Fix, Polish, Translate and a custom action in Notepad.

Fixelect v1.1.4
Fixelect v1.1.4 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.1.4
- Your clipboard is never pasted by mistake. Fixelect now waits longer before putting back what you had copied, so slow apps (Word, Slack, a busy computer) always paste the fixed text.
- No duplicated lines in code editors. With nothing selected, VS Code and Cursor copy the whole line; Fixelect now recognises that and asks you to select text instead of pasting the line twice.
- Mac: a guided first launch. After you allow Accessibility, the Welcome tour opens so you learn the shortcuts right away.
- Mac: "Move to Applications". Opened straight from the disk image, Fixelect offers to move itself, so it keeps working after you eject the disk and can start at login.
- Mac: starts even when the GPU hangs. If the graphics chip doesn't respond, the model loads on the processor instead of failing.
- Windows: reliable double-tap on a busy PC. Taps are timed by when you pressed the keys, as on the Mac.
- Windows: smoother in-app updates. Fixelect steps aside before the installer starts, so it can replace every file.

Fixelect v1.1.3
Fixelect v1.1.3 — offline grammar fixes and polish in every app
Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.1.3
- Mac: the double-tap works. Fixelect now listens for shortcuts itself and needs only the Accessibility permission. Before, it silently waited for a second permission (Input Monitoring) that it never asked for.
- Mac: the double-tap is reliable on a busy Mac. Taps are timed by when you pressed the keys, not by when Fixelect got to them, so a double-tap made while the model loads still counts.
- Mac: Polish is now double-tap Shift (⇧ ⇧). Double-tap Control is macOS's Dictation shortcut, so it opened Dictation instead. Fix stays double-tap Option (⌥ ⌥).
- Mac: the Polish preview answers the keyboard. Return replaces, Esc cancels and R tries again, even while your app stays in front. Before, Return went into your document.
- Mac: easier permission step. Fixelect appears in the Accessibility list by itself, so you only flip its switch.
- Mac: works without the GPU. If Metal can't start, the model runs on the processor.
- Every release is now tested on macOS 26 and macOS 15: Fixelect is installed from the disk image and fixes and polishes real text in TextEdit.

Fixelect fixes and polishes the text you select, in any app, with an AI model that runs entirely on your computer. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
What's new in 1.1.1
- Fixed: downloading a model on macOS failed with
CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED. Downloads and update checks now use your system's trusted certificates, on Mac and Windows. - The Mac disk image now explains how to open Fixelect the first time, replacing the helper script that newer macOS versions block.
