Release list
v0.5.0
MemoryMap AI is now Tessellate. It has a new name, a new logo (three cells, the last one settling into place) and the tagline "Your notes, pieced together". Your notes, settings and data folder carry over. To upgrade, uninstall the old version and reinstall. The repo has moved to github.com/Braydenh563/Tessellate, and the old address redirects.
Highlights
- Smarter with no model. Ask and Chat now answer from your notes without a model. They handle personal questions ("where do I live"), dates and countdowns, sums, time zones, typos and British/American spellings. Answers read more naturally, and each one has a "Why this answer" breakdown.
- Timeline calendar. There's a new Month/Week/Day calendar. You can drag reminders between days, and dates written in notes ("16 October 2026") place the note on that day.
- Whiteboards and mind maps. There are 9 new shapes, 17 line ends, a shared colour menu with an eyedropper, snap guides, and multi-select editing. You can also turn a note into a mind map.
- Live captions and recordings. Live captions can translate into Spanish. Recordings get a seekable playhead, pins and comments, speaker renaming, and search by what was said.
- Companion (Atlas). It has more animations and acts, and you can throw it around the screen.
New
- PIN quick unlock. It's optional, 4–12 digits, and stored in your OS secure store.
- Other devices. You can approve phones and trusted networks, scan a QR code to connect, and get a status-bar Wi-Fi indicator. Access auto-disables after 14 days unused.
- Agent mode. It has a new Move notes tool (71 tools in total) and a map_from_note tool. Stop now also cancels pending writes.
- Undo and Redo. They now cover almost every write in the app.
- Themes. There are 2 new looks (Midnight, Rosewood), 9 new accents, 4 lighter background styles and an Atkinson Hyperlegible font option. Contrast is fixed across every theme.
- Focus timer. It has a ring, preset lengths, a chime and break options.
- Backups. You can copy each backup to a second folder, see the schedule and last result, and each backup is a single file.
- Documents.
- Python and JavaScript debugging improved.
- Standard-library completions added.
- SQL can query CSV documents.
- .docx tracked changes import as suggestions.
- Library. Drag and drop files anywhere to add them. It also now imports .diff, .patch, .vb, .vbs, Dockerfile and Makefile.
- Settings.
- A "First day of the week" option.
- A Credits page.
- A Maintenance section (doctor, reinstall, logs).
- A switch for beta update checks.
- MCP server. It now exposes your notes as resources and your skills as prompts.
Improved
- Phone and iPhone. Notch and safe-area support, bottom-sheet dialogs, 44px touch targets, no Safari zoom on fields, and fixes for pinch-zoom on whiteboards and the chat keyboard.
- Performance.
- Python documents run in about 0.2 s after the first run.
- The first question after launch takes 0.34 s (was 27 s).
- The search model unloads after an idle hour, freeing about 115 MB.
- Graph. Smoother motion, dragged notes stay put, and saved views restore exactly.
- Windows launch splash. It's a borderless rounded window with the new logo.
- Filing with no model. It's more accurate: notes filed correctly went from 42% to 62% on the test notebook.
Fixed
- Chat. Chat with no model no longer misroutes "how do I…" questions. A server error that broke every chat is fixed.
- Reminders. Monthly reminders now keep their day (31st → 28 Feb → 31 Mar).
- Undo and Ctrl+Z. Ctrl+Z no longer walks the board's history from other tabs.
- Backups. They no longer leave
-waland-shmfiles behind. - Imports. Imported old notes are no longer purged by the bin sweep.
- Security. Other devices can no longer trigger actions on your computer, such as restoring a backup or installing software.
- Settings and install. The Docker build, the dropdown in Settings and the installer naming are all fixed. The CI job's Python 3.13 timeout is raised to 40 minutes.
- Polish. There are dozens of small UI, accessibility and layout fixes.
Under the hood
- Frozen builds use Python 3.13. Dependencies and vendored libraries are bumped, including p5.js 1.11.13.
- A weekly
pip-auditjob now runs in CI. The app itself makes no requests. - The whiteboard and file routes moved into their own services, with no visible change.
The full list is in CHANGELOG.md.
v0.4.1
MemoryMap AI 0.4.1
Works without AI. Ask and Chat answer from your own notes when no model is running. Every sentence is quoted from a note and cited, and the AI still answers whenever a model is available.
New
- A composer that talks like a person: reads casual questions, typos and slang, answers several questions at once, replies naturally to "ok", "thanks" or "lol", and asks "Did you mean…?" when unsure. Choose a natural or professional voice.
- Tidy: nine reviews that need no AI (weak links, stray tags, duplicates, empty notes and more), each undone in one step.
- Embedding models: pick from 15 in Settings, each with its licence. Switching runs in the background while search keeps working.
- Graph: Organic, Clusters and Galaxy layouts, clearer link lines, two-way links, Reshuffle and Unlink.
- Templates: 12 new board templates and 8 new mind map templates.
- Meetings: one note with Agenda, Notes, Decisions and Action items; record into it and turn action items into reminders.
- Password recovery: a recovery key resets your password and keeps your private notes.
- Background tasks: live progress, named steps, a log and an always-visible Stop on every job.
Improved
- With a model running, it reads only the relevant parts of your notes, so prompts are about 17% smaller.
- You can refuse or cancel the automatic install of search by meaning; a stopped install leaves nothing behind.
- Link reasons say what two notes have in common.
- One icon for AI and one for the agent; tooltips show keyboard shortcuts.
- Ctrl+K is for commands; content search is in Find anything.
- Redesigned OCR workspace, Settings sidebar, Dashboard, New board dialog and model cards.
- Atlas breathes, reacts more naturally to taps and drops in when you unlock.
- New project website.
Fixed
- The Guide answers again, with or without a model.
- Menus, dialogs and focus rings no longer get cut off or open off-screen.
- Items dropped onto boards land where you put them; Shift-select adds to a selection.
- Undo works on changes to several notes at once.
- Night shift's Run now reads as far as the scheduled run.
- The first note in a new notebook no longer gets stuck on "Filing…".
- Many layout fixes across Notes, Library, Chat, tags, the lock screen and the graph.
- Several slow text patterns are now instant.
v0.4.0
MemoryMap AI 0.4.0
A notebook that files itself, now checked end to end, with or without AI.
Highlights
- Capture and filing fixed and verified. Notes save, file, tag and stay findable after a reload. 49 browser tests now guard these flows on every change.
- Works with no AI model. Filing by your own notes' words, search, Ask with cited sources, and reminders from plain words.
- Honest filing certainty. Never shows 100%, and offers other categories when unsure.
- Nothing lost. Unsaved note and document edits survive a reload or closed window.
- Mind maps and boards. Proper hierarchy and looks by level, an emoji and icon library, and drag to delete with Undo.
- Polish. The Writing room, chat progress that says what Atlas is doing, new Atlas avatars, subtle animations with their own switch, and VS Code-style line copy in the editor.
- Security. HTTPS for other devices, stronger passwords, private notes kept out of answers and backups, and no network use before you allow update checks.
- Windows. Installer audited, and every build now installs, upgrades and uninstalls in CI.
