Production Sheet feature

production sheet

The production sheet is used in the kitchen by Mayflower staff. It shows what dishes are to be cooked on any given day, and some attributes associated with each dish (portion size etc.). I will now explain each of the fields so as to avoid any confusion.

  • Star: Just like in the database; these stars indicate if a dish is part of any pre-selected meals (for people who can't make decisions on their own). One * means that it is part of the dinner (lunch) pre-selected meal, two ** means that the dish is part of the supper (dinner) pre-selected meal, three */** means it's part of both pre-selected meals, and lastly zero stars means that it is not on any pre-selected meals for that day.
  • Portion size: The amount of a dish that should be served to 1 person
  • Mech(anical) soft: How, if at all, a dish should be prepared for people with special diets that require soft food. (e.g. pork might be ground)
  • Pureed: Indicates how much of a dish to serve for people who require a pureed diet (e.g. 1 serve meaning that a normal serving amount, once pureed, is sufficient)
  • Diet: The portion of a dish serving that should be served to people on diets
  • HC/BB/Buckely prep: Each of these are the different dining locations at the Mayflower community. These columns are to be filled in by the staff after cooking, indicating the actual amount that they decided to prepare on that day. (A potentially useful feature would be to carry over the value from the previous cycle this menu was served for cooks' reference)
  • HC/BB/Buckely leftover: These columns are also to be filled in by staff, indicating the actual amount of each dish that is leftover at the end of the day. This column value is used by staff to help predict/adjust how much food should be made next time. (Would also be beneficial to cooks to pre-fill this value to the previous cycle's value)

In order for the production sheet to be usable in practice by the Mayflower, it needs to be signable by a dietician. So adding an e-signing feature (or even just an option to print it out to sign) is a must for this feature to reach MVP status.
