Installation Guide

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10 or higher
• pip package manager
• Git (optional, for cloning)
• Serial port access permissions

Step 1: Clone Repository

git clone https://github.com/CervezaStallone/XY-MD02_WebApp.git
cd XY-MD02_WebApp

Or download ZIP from GitHub releases.

Step 2: Create Virtual Environment

Windows

python -m venv .venv
.venv\Scripts\activate

Linux/macOS

python3 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate

Step 3: Install Dependencies

pip install -r requirements.txt

This installs all required packages including:

• Dash 3.3.0 and Plotly for web interface
• Waitress 3.0.2 for production WSGI server
• minimalmodbus for Modbus RTU communication
• pandas 2.3.3 and numpy 2.2.6 for data processing and downsampling
• python-dotenv 1.2.1 for environment configuration
• Additional dependencies for charting and calculations

Step 4: Configure Environment

Copy the example configuration:

Windows

copy .env.example .env

Linux/macOS

cp .env.example .env

Edit .env with your settings. See Configuration for details.

Step 5: Run Application

python app.py

Open browser to: http://localhost:8050

Troubleshooting Installation

Serial Port Permission Denied (Linux)

Add user to dialout group:

sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USER

Log out and back in for changes to take effect.

Module Import Errors

Ensure virtual environment is activated:

which python  # Should show .venv/bin/python

Python Version Issues

Check Python version:

python --version  # Must be 3.10+

If multiple Python versions installed:

python3.10 -m venv .venv
