v2.2.1
This is the 2.2 release. Version 2.2.0 was tagged but never finished building, so everything
below ships here in 2.2.1 - there is nothing you missed.
If you are coming from version 1, read the 2.1.6 notes
as well: they cover the whole of Version 2, including Linux, Steam Deck and macOS support.
New
Change a character's account id from any save. The id on the GENERAL tab used to be locked
unless it looked like a standard Steam ID, which shut out exactly the saves people want to
change - the ones with short or made-up ids. Any save can now be moved to a different account.
Game Pass worlds are included: those store their own copy of the file name inside the world, and
that is now renamed alongside it, so the change sticks instead of quietly undoing itself the
next time you save.
Pets show up the moment you add them. Put a pet into a character's slots, or take one out,
and the COMPANIONS tab shows it straight away, clearly marked as not yet real. The game only
gives a pet its level, health and name when the save is written, so until you press SAVE it is
listed but cannot be edited.
The item catalog opens where you are working. Click a helmet and the catalog opens on
armour, click a shotgun and it opens on weapons, instead of dropping you into the full list of
every item in the game. Pick a group yourself and it stays where you put it.
Right-click a save to show it in File Explorer or Finder. For Game Pass worlds this opens
the real save folder, not the temporary copy the editor unpacks to work on.
Fixed
The editor keeps a record when something goes wrong. Until now, a failure the editor could
not show you left no trace at all - including the ones that ended with the window simply
vanishing. Every failure now lands in a log file alongside the editor's other settings. Errors
are always recorded, even with detailed logging switched off, so there is something to send us
after a crash. Detailed logging also stays on between restarts now, instead of switching itself
off every time you reopen the editor. You can open the folder from Settings.
DROP ITEM explains itself. It said "select a slot with something in it" even when you had
done exactly that. The real reason it was greyed out is that a dropped item has to go somewhere
in the world, so a world save has to be open too. It now says so on the page, rather than in a
tooltip that a greyed-out button never shows.
DISMANTLE stops blaming your items. It claimed every single item had no recipe whenever the
editor had not managed to read your game files. It now tells you that is the problem, and picks
the recipes up as soon as you point it at your game install instead of staying broken until you
restart.
The Windows download builds again. 2.2.0 failed to build at the last step, which is why this
is 2.2.1.
Tidied away
- The "Gave Digital Gold (32x)" line under the inventory, which only repeated what the slot was
already showing. - The long paragraph about character looks on the appearance panel.
- "nothing is written until you press SAVE" on the upgrade confirmation.
