Welcome to ChurchCRM 7.4.1! Following our major 7.4.0 milestone, this release focuses directly on making user management and data privacy more intuitive. We have carried out a comprehensive audit of our security permissions, ensuring that managing your staff, volunteers, and congregation data is less confusing and significantly more secure.

🔑 Simplified & Hardened User Administration

Setting up new users and managing what they can see has been completely streamlined to eliminate guesswork.

  • Clarser Permission Labels: We have completely rewritten the labels on the User Editor page. Instead of vague technical terms, permission settings are now explicitly labeled so you know exactly what access you are granting.
  • Smart Dashboard Buttons: Action buttons like "Add Person" or "Edit Family" are now intelligently hidden if a user doesn't have the permission to use them. This removes interface clutter and prevents accidental clicks that end in "Access Denied" screens.
  • Exclusive "Edit-Self" Mode: The "EditSelf" feature has been isolated into an exclusive permission mode. To keep your database airtight out of the box, all newly created accounts now default to EditSelf = 0 (disabled).
  • Flawless User Deletion: Fixed a long-standing database issue where attempting to completely delete a staff or volunteer account would fail if that user had custom configurations saved. Deletions now process cleanly.

🛡️ Intuitive Privacy & Access Guardrails

We have refined our access boundaries so everyday users have the information they need to do their jobs without exposing sensitive underlying data.

  • Explicit Default Access: Authenticated church staff and volunteers now explicitly have basic read-only access to necessary household profiles, family navigation, and avatars by default, preventing unexpected visual gaps during daily operations.
  • Airtight Notes Protection: We have strictly reinforced our read/write policies for member timelines. Pastoral and administrative notes are fiercely guarded behind designated permission scopes.
  • URL Security Patching: We patched hidden security vulnerabilities (such as route parameter manipulation and unescaped form links in the Pledge Editor) to prevent malicious actors from navigating past your server's intended boundaries.

🗺️ New Dedicated Regional & Language Hub

Managing a diverse congregation just got easier with a brand-new administrative control center.

  • Centralized Localization Hub: We have introduced a dedicated admin section at admin/system/localization. From here, you can easily manage time zones, text formats, and language rules globally without touching a line of code.
  • Public Calendar Fixes: The public-facing church calendar now fully honors your local translation settings down to the last detail.

Our global platform expands its reach to support even more ministries:

  • Official Croatian (hr) Support: We are incredibly excited to welcome Croatian to our official language matrix, pre-configured with translation logic optimized for traditional denominations.
  • A Massive Global Project: We have pushed complete translation sweeps across all 42 supported languages to ensure all new user security prompts and admin configurations speak your team's native language.

🪲 Other Quality-of-Life Wins

  • Interactive Filter Resetting: Fixed an annoying bug where clicking the "Clear Filter" button would clear out checkboxes but fail to actually reset the data list underneath. Filters now clear instantly.
  • Smarter Event Math: The dashboard's monthly event attendance averages are now computed cleanly in-memory, resolving a long-standing mathematical hiccup.
