Mesh Agent Hosting
Local peer connectivity and hosted agents can extend an edge product, but both need new protocols and operational boundaries. Wi-Fi Direct, BLE or nearby-connection libraries provide connection mechanisms, not an automatic multi-hop mesh with payments. Likewise, running an AI agent on a paired host does not provide a resilient twenty-four-hour cloud service simply because a phone controls it.
A mesh prototype should first establish authenticated peer discovery, explicit user consent and a bounded transfer between two identified participants. Define what metadata is visible and which device may forward which data. Encrypted content still reveals sizes and timing. Permissions, radio availability and Android background constraints affect operation. Do not claim every nearby phone silently becomes a relay.
Routing and accounting are separate designs. A relay needs a job or transfer identity, byte limits, deadlines, destination allowlists and a delivery acceptance rule. Local network counters alone cannot distinguish useful customer traffic from generated traffic. A service should not become an unrestricted residential proxy. Abuse prevention and customer identity are part of the product, not optional polishing after rewards start.
Solana state channels or streams require actual implementations and trust models. Solana Pay is not a generic state-channel engine. If batching payments is proposed, specify who holds funds, who authorizes balances, how disputes are resolved and how final settlement occurs. An hourly settlement promise without those rules is a design sketch, not a working micro-economy.
For an initial pilot, simpler explicit customer-funded jobs may be easier to qualify than continuous relay accounting. Measure successful delivery and real demand before adding reputation staking or slashing. The user should understand costs and failure conditions before contributing a connection that may have carrier limits or privacy implications.
A future agent service should use isolated processes or containers, bounded CPU and memory, read-only or scoped storage, allowlisted network destinations and narrowly scoped tools. Secrets should be issued per job or capability, not mounted as a full host environment. Arbitrary shell access from a mobile chat screen is outside the current node protocol and should remain unavailable.
Cancellation, restart, checkpointing and migration require explicit tests. Losing one node does not guarantee another can instantly resume an agent unless state and credentials are safely transferable. A phone may serve as the control plane, while persistent compute lives on an owned host. Explain that separation instead of presenting Android as a reliable always-on server without evidence.
For mesh, preserve one authenticated bounded transfer and its failure behavior. For agents, preserve one isolated non-sensitive task, its resource limits, tool scope and cancellation result. Keep these on experimental branches and do not broaden node permissions in the recorded candidate. A roadmap earns credibility by naming its first testable unit rather than bundling every future feature into an enterprise swarm claim.
