Current Implementation and Audit
What works in HELLO OS today? In the 20 October 2026 audit, 27 feature areas were confirmed to read or write database-backed state through application APIs. The production build passed, all 11 test files passed, and 27 of 29 API routes responded in the audited setup. These checks establish a working prototype; they do not establish production readiness or uptime.
| Measure | Audit result | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Database/API-backed feature areas | 27 | Audited feature areas; not a claim that every UI panel is live |
| Simulated or fake-data areas | 14 | Includes synthetic values listed in the simulation register |
| API routes responding | 27 / 29 | In the audited local setup |
| Production build | Passed | At audit time |
| Test files | 11 / 11 passed | At audit time |
| Type errors | 13 reported | Type-check correction is an identified remediation task |
The 2 non-responding APIs in the audit required a separate MCP service to be running. This is an integration/startup limitation, not evidence that the routes are permanently unavailable. The proposed fix is to run MCP in-process with the application and verify the same endpoints under one start command.
A feature counts as database/API-backed when the audited request path persists or reads application state. That label does not imply distributed consistency, independent server-to-server operation, durable cloud hosting, hardened authentication, real-money handling, or cryptographic verification unless those properties are separately tested and documented.
- Remove fake values from product surfaces, make demo data visibly explicit, fix the 13 reported TypeScript errors, and make typechecking a CI gate.
- Consolidate the MCP service into the app so one start command serves both the app and MCP endpoints; make the handshake version match the actual package/runtime version.
- Rerun build, all test files, typecheck, and all 29 API checks after changes. Record exact commands and commit SHA.
Status: These are next-step items from the audit. Do not mark them complete until code is merged and verification passes.
The audit provided the results above but did not include a commit SHA or command transcript. Add both when repeating the checks. For reproducibility, test from a clean checkout using the documented setup in the repository README, note the database seed/demo state, and clearly separate local checks from hosted deployment checks.
