Backup Reminder 0.2.0

The first release without the beta label: a portable Windows x64 checklist and reminder for the backups you do yourself.

Changes

  • Custom icons and WAV sounds are imported into your data folder when you save. Originals stay untouched; icons selected from programs are extracted as images.
  • File > Back up configuration saves settings, progress, icons and sound in one ZIP. Restore validates it, preserves the previous configuration and leaves reminders off until you enable them again.
  • Both editors show a disabled Saved button after saving. Further edits re-enable saving. Cancel, Close, X or Escape with unsaved changes offers Save changes, Discard changes or Keep editing.
  • Updated searchable Help, manual update instructions, screenshots and the direct project-page link in About.

Download and run

Download Backup-Reminder-0.2.0-win-x64.zip, extract it to a permanent folder and run Backup-Reminder.exe. Windows x64; tested on Windows 11. The .NET runtime is included. Keep all included license and runtime notice files together. The app is unsigned, so Windows may display an unknown-publisher warning.

Updating

Close Backup Reminder, extract this ZIP, replace all supplied application files in the same app folder, then reopen it. Your separate data folder is preserved. Keeping the EXE at the same path preserves the scheduled reminder. If you move it, open it from the new location and save the reminder schedule again. There is no automatic updater.

Use Settings > Open data folder to locate your configuration. Configuration ZIP backups contain personal paths and preferences; keep them private. They do not contain your documents, backup tools or Windows task definitions. After restoring, review program paths and explicitly enable reminders in Reminder schedule.

Backup Reminder launches your tools and records your confirmations; it does not perform or verify your backups. Scheduled reminders require you to be signed in.

Licensed under the unchanged PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. Optional DigitalGuy credit adds no license conditions. Microsoft runtime components retain their included licenses and notices.
