Aniflow v1.4
Bug-fix release. Every item below was measured, not guessed.
Fixed
- AI mode colour shift on untagged sources. Videos without a colour-matrix tag (common in fansub/older encodes) were converted with bt601 during frame extraction, permanently shifting colours (green channel +14 on HD). The matrix tag is now read; when missing it is guessed from resolution (SD → bt470bg, HD → bt709), the same rule the RIFE path already used.
- 10-bit sources in AI mode produced 16-bit PNGs (2.7× temp disk) that Real-ESRGAN reads as 8-bit anyway. Extraction now writes 8-bit RGB directly (dithered).
- "Could not read input resolution" with 1080p/1440p/2160p targets, and missed audio/subtitle codecs in MP4 decisions: ffmpeg's stream line was being wrapped at console width before parsing.
- Cancelled or failed jobs left a half-written output next to the source (and pushed the next run to
_2). It is now removed. - Queue stopped silently if the 2nd or later file could not start (e.g. unreadable file + "p" target), leaving the UI busy. Each file is now isolated; the error is logged and the queue continues.
- Sleep action hibernated on machines with hibernation enabled (
rundll32 SetSuspendStatequirk). - Extra ffmpeg parameters containing
|<>broke the RIFE command line.
Improved
- AI temp-disk estimate now scales with the source resolution and is checked against free space before extraction starts.
- Exact fractional frame rate (e.g. 24000/1001) via
ffprobeinstead of the rounded "23.98" — removes a duplicated frame every ~3 minutes in AI mode.setup.ps1now installsffprobe.exenext toffmpeg.exe(existing installs: runsetup.ps1once more; ~190 MB one-time download). - Progress file is read as a tail instead of re-reading the whole growing file every 500 ms.
- MP4 + HEVC output is tagged
hvc1(QuickTime/Apple compatibility). - Missing custom output folder is logged instead of silently falling back;
setup.ps1cleans its TEMP folder.
Upgrade
One-line installer or git pull, then run setup.ps1 once to get ffprobe.exe. Settings are untouched.
Aniflow 1.3
Multi-GPU fix and quality-of-life release.
Fixed
- On laptops with an integrated + discrete GPU, the shader chain, AI upscaling and RIFE all ran on the integrated GPU (device 0) while the discrete card idled — up to 10x slower encodes. Aniflow now detects the Vulkan device list at startup and picks the discrete GPU automatically; the GPU field in Settings (0 = auto) overrides it everywhere, and the detected devices are listed right under the field.
- RIFE jobs no longer break when the app is installed under a path containing special characters (e.g. the
%LOCALAPPDATA%one-line install with an unusual username) — every path on the internal command line now travels via environment variables. - Long AI jobs no longer slow the UI down: progress counting probes only new frames and stderr is read incrementally instead of re-reading a multi-megabyte file twice a second; Real-ESRGAN's percent spam is filtered out of the log.
Added
- In-app update check: on startup Aniflow quietly asks GitHub for the latest release and prints a log line when a newer version exists. No popups, silent when offline.
- The job log now shows which GPU was selected on multi-GPU systems;
-SelfTestprints the full device list.
Aniflow 1.2
RIFE now works out of the box: setup.ps1 installs a self-contained portable VapourSynth (embedded Python 3.12 + VapourSynth R79) into the app folder - no system Python, no admin rights. An existing system-wide VapourSynth is still used if found. The one-line installer picks this up automatically.
Aniflow 1.1
Bug-fix and usability release.
Fixed
- File and folder names containing brackets no longer break file detection, temp cleanup or the temp-folder setting (all path checks are literal now; temp dirs are deleted with a wildcard-safe native call).
- Identically named sources no longer silently overwrite each other's output - collisions get a
_2/_3suffix with a log note. - Container=mp4: Preview works again, bitmap subtitles (PGS/VobSub) are skipped with a note instead of failing the whole encode, incompatible audio falls back to AAC, Opus gets the required experimental flag.
- ffmpeg download in
setup.ps1works again (BtbN removed the fixed asset name; the URL is now resolved dynamically). - Settings are locked while a job is running; error paths no longer leave the UI stuck busy; closing the window mid-AI-job cleans up temp frames.
Improved
- One-line, git-free install:
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DailyDana/Aniflow/main/install.ps1 | iex - AI mode: input frames are deleted before the encode phase (roughly halves peak disk use); progress counting no longer stutters the UI on long jobs.
