Overview

Note: The heatmaps on this page are from the 2023 dataset and have not yet been regenerated.

This page shows heatmaps for each of the zones in Classic WoW. Note that there aren't many recorded deaths in the higher-level zones (contribute to the database if you can!); those will be updated as the database matures. Also shown are the top 10 creatures by kill count, some basic death statistics for classes in that zone, and the probability density functions for each class's deaths in that zone (fitted to lognormal distributions).

Kalimdor

octocat Currently, unlabeled deaths imply either drowning or falling. Not sure why, but most drowning/falling deaths record Kalimdor or Easternkingdoms as their map_id.

Wetlands

octocat It is interesting to see how druids and hunters making a death run from Kalimdor affect this heatmap. Also, low 10s making their way from Dun Morogh and failing to make it just south of Menethil Harbor.

Redridge Mountains

octocat Redridge is interesting in that all of the recorded deaths are pretty well spread. The coloration for each zone is normalized by the max number of kills within a particular place, but when they are so spread out, all locations are near the max.
