v1.0.14 — Native window drag interception fix

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 15 Oct 22:23

Explicitly disable native window dragging on the floating navigation rectangle. Firefox's native browser-titlebar rule marked the full fixed toolbar area as draggable even when its controls were transparent and pointer events were disabled. This change removes that separate source of Windows click interception above website headers.

Toolbar dimensions, activation strips, the fixed center pill, phased reveal, two-second close grace and smooth Enter collapse are preserved. Empty navigation background no longer acts as a window-drag handle.

Validation: 96 toolbar checks in isolated headless Firefox 158.0; 65 installer assertions on both Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7.6.5. Headless checks cover toolbar behavior and DOM clicks, not Windows non-client hit testing. The reported website symptom needs confirmation in a normal Firefox window after restart.

Download and extract the complete Windows ZIP, close Firefox normally and run Install.cmd. Restart Firefox after updating.

v1.0.13 — Intent-aware toolbar interaction

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 15 Oct 13:47

Page-header buttons remain clickable after a brief touch of the top edge. Previously, the invisible navigation rectangle immediately acquired mouse events and sustained its own hover over the page.

Opening now proceeds in phases: confirm hover intent, grow the visible glass as a bridge into the toolbar, reveal controls, then enable the complete navigation area. The activation strip, 128×12 center pill and toolbar dimensions keep their size. Keyboard focus and open menus remain immediate; the two-second close grace and smooth Enter collapse are preserved.

Added native coordinate-click regressions for four page-header controls after brief edge crossings, cancelled opening, early entry into the growing glass and activation through the fixed pill. Checks use an isolated headless Firefox 158.0 profile. The old stylesheet fails the new trajectory regression. Personal extension settings, account sign-in and OS dialogs are outside these tests.

Download and extract the entire Windows ZIP, close Firefox normally, then run Install.cmd to update. Existing settings and backups are preserved.

v1.0.12 — Submission fade and narrow-window fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 13 Oct 17:50
  • Restore the short smooth collapse after submitting an address. Firefox's native transition had overridden the submission marker; the usual two-second hover grace remains.
  • Keep the address field at least 120 pixels wide in a narrow window, letting Firefox move optional controls into its native overflow menu.
  • Prevent submission animations from hiding draggable controls during toolbar customization; exclude fullscreen too.

Validation on Firefox 158.0 for Windows: 67 native headless toolbar checks; 85 coordinate clicks through the hidden toolbar; a coordinate click on the narrow-window overflow menu; real downloads with normal and reduced motion. All 65 installer assertions passed in Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7. The new Enter regression check fails on the preceding version and passes on this release. Personal extension settings, sign-in and operating-system dialogs are not covered.

Extract the entire ZIP, close Firefox normally, run Install.cmd and start Firefox again.

v1.0.11 — Restore toolbar clicks

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 13 Oct 17:22

Fixes the toolbar-click regression in 1.0.10: the glass background is now below the native controls, so it no longer intercepts clicks on buttons outside the address field. Popup anchors remain stationary.

Toolbar tests now verify the actual hit target and click by pointer coordinates. The previous direct element-click tests missed the overlap; the updated test reproduces the failure on 1.0.10 and passes on this version. Native XUL popup items still use element clicks because their separate widget is not returned by the main document's headless hit test.

Validation: 53 toolbar checks on Firefox 158.0 for Windows in a disposable headless profile; all 65 installer assertions passed in Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7. Personal extension configuration, sign-in and operating-system dialogs are not covered.

Download and extract the entire Windows ZIP, close Firefox normally, run Install.cmd and restart Firefox.

v1.0.10 — Stable popup anchors

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 13 Oct 16:34

Superseded by v1.0.11. Version 1.0.10 has a glass-layer regression that intercepts toolbar button clicks. Use 1.0.11 or newer.

Toolbar buttons keep their native hit areas and popup anchors stationary during reveal and collapse. Only the icon artwork moves; an open popup cancels the icon stagger immediately.

Validation on Firefox 158.0 for Windows: 53 toolbar checks in a disposable headless profile, including extension list/actions/popups, menu subviews, the actual extensions-manager and settings tabs, navigation, keyboard focus, smaller windows and hidden-toolbar click-through. Real downloads passed with normal and reduced motion. All 65 installer assertions passed in Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7.

A reported instant disappearance after selecting Extensions in the menu was not reproduced in the disposable profile. This release addresses the independently confirmed moving-anchor defect. Personal extension configuration, account sign-in and operating-system dialogs were not tested.

Download and extract the entire Windows ZIP, close Firefox normally and run Install.cmd. Restart Firefox after updating.

v1.0.9 - Progress that folds into a check

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 08 Oct 13:00

The download island now uses a centered arrow and a thin horizontal progress track. On completion, the same track folds into a check while the arrow fades away, keeping the animation continuous.

  • Replaces the misaligned progress ring and native sprite visuals.
  • Preserves brief start and finish notices, automatic hiding during ongoing downloads, the native file list and warning badges.
  • Uses a static completion check when reduced motion is enabled. No additional script or administrator access is required.

Checked on Firefox 157.0.1 for Windows using an isolated profile: real downloads with normal and reduced motion, native file-list clicks and reopening, safety badges, and alignment at three display scales. Installer checks pass on Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7.

Extract the ZIP, close Firefox normally and run Install.cmd to update. Your previous backups and extension settings are preserved.

v1.0.8 — Windowed controls hover fix

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 05 Oct 16:41

Window controls are easier to reveal in a restored window. The top-right activation strip is now 16 pixels tall in windowed mode, extending below the resize frame; maximized windows retain the 8-pixel strip. Controls still fade in independently of the address bar, remain available while in use, and hide after leaving. Page clicks below the activation strip pass through.

Verified in isolated Firefox 156.0.1: reveal in restored and maximized states, native maximize/restore/minimize/close, three widths, Firefox scaling at 100%/125%/150%, 27 page clicks below hidden controls, reduced motion, fullscreen, and a real streamed download. All 65 installer assertions pass on Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7.

Download firefox-ghost-ui-1.0.8-windows.zip, extract it, close Firefox and run Install.cmd. Restart Firefox to load the updated theme. Existing backups and preferences are preserved.

The README also explains how to select Bonjourr for the homepage and new windows, separately from new tabs.

v1.0.7 — Hover window controls

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 04 Oct 19:18

Minimize, maximize and close controls now stay hidden until you hover over the top-right 8-pixel edge. They fade and slide into view independently of the address bar, remain available while you use them, and hide shortly after you leave. Hidden controls pass clicks through to the page below the activation edge.

Native window commands, reduced motion and fullscreen remain supported. The brief download notices from v1.0.6 are preserved.

Download firefox-ghost-ui-1.0.7-windows.zip, extract it, close Firefox and run Install.cmd. Existing backups and preferences are preserved.

Verified in Firefox 156.0.1 with 27 actual page clicks under hidden controls, all native window commands, hover retention and hiding, three window widths, reduced motion and fullscreen. A streamed download confirmed brief start/completion notices still work. All 65 installer checks passed on Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7.

v1.0.6 — Brief download notices

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 04 Oct 16:39

The download island now appears briefly when a file starts downloading, retracts while the download continues, and returns for the completion animation. It no longer remains visible for the entire transfer. Hovering or opening its file list keeps it available; warnings remain accessible.

Reduced-motion mode provides brief static start and completion notices instead of animation. The native file list still opens independently of the address bar.

Download firefox-ghost-ui-1.0.6-windows.zip, extract it, close Firefox and run Install.cmd. Previous backups and download-panel preferences are preserved.

Verified with a real streamed download in both normal and reduced-motion modes: the island became hidden while the transfer was still active, reappeared after completion, and the native file list reopened correctly. Installer checks passed on Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7.

v1.0.5 — Download island

Choose a tag to compare

@DekrovDev DekrovDev released this 04 Oct 16:19

Downloads now appear as a separate floating island instead of revealing the address bar. A larger native progress ring surrounds the download arrow; Firefox's completion animation plays before the island smoothly retracts upward. Hovering or opening its file list keeps it available. Download warnings remain visible and actionable.

Click the island to open Firefox's native downloads list. The list stays independent of the address bar and closes through Firefox's normal popup handling, without leaving an invisible overlay. Active downloads remain visible when Enter collapses the address bar; idle controls keep their submission animation. Fullscreen and reduced motion are supported.

Download firefox-ghost-ui-1.0.5-windows.zip, extract it, close Firefox, and run Install.cmd. Updates preserve the original backup and record previous download-panel preferences for uninstall. No additional scripts, administrator access or extensions are required.

Validated with a real streamed file download, native physical button clicks, repeated file-list opening, Enter, warning badges, fullscreen, reduced motion, 85 page clicks and three window sizes in Firefox 156.0.1. The installer passed 65 checks on Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7, including upgrades and preference restoration.
