Dovecot Mailbox Viewer v0.4.0
Download Dovecot-Mailbox-Viewer-Windows.exe below and double-click it. No installer, ZIP extraction, Python installation or separate _internal folder is needed. For Windows 10/11 (64-bit). Startup can take a few seconds while bundled files unpack automatically. Your original backup stays unchanged.
Added
- Underlined Unread / All tabs above the message list. Unread uses known Dovecot
flags, combines with folder/search filters and never marks messages as read. - Outline icon menus for sorting and switching between Preview (three lines)
and Compact (sender, date and subject) list layouts. Layout and sort choices
are remembered and also available in Settings. - Date headings for Today, Yesterday, This Week, Last Week, Two Weeks Ago,
Three Weeks Ago, Earlier This Month, Last Month and Older. Only populated
sections appear; future and unknown dates have their own fallback headings. - Local calendar date grouping with the system's first weekday, automatic
midnight refresh and consistent group headings across page boundaries. - A magnifying-glass zoom menu with presets, custom 60–200% zoom and a 100% default.
- A code icon to toggle HTML/plain text. HTML is enabled by default, and explicit
display preferences are remembered. Remote image consent remains separate.
Changed
- Removed the sorting dropdown, format dropdown and plus/minus zoom row from the
main interface. Reading controls now sit at the top right beside email actions. - Compact list styling and a lighter selection background with a blue edge.
- Date grouping applies to date sorting; sender/subject sorting remains alphabetical.
- Date headings are presentation only, so selection, result counts, pagination and
exports continue to contain messages rather than decorative heading rows. - Existing v0.3.0 search caches remain reusable; this update needs no schema rebuild.
- Added regression tests for calendar boundaries, unread filtering, grouped
pagination/exports, icon controls and saved view preferences.
