OpenMic 0.9.2 makes the strip easier to keep nearby and soundboard clips easier to control.

Changes

• The strip stays visible when you open the full window. Settings → General → Always show the strip controls this behavior and is on by default.
• Removed the Collapse to strip button from the main window. You can still minimize to the strip or use the notification-area menu.
• Clicking a playing soundboard pad pauses it. Click again to resume from the same position. Strip buttons work the same way; hotkeys still restart clips.
• Each soundboard pad has a labeled ☆ Add to strip button. Pinned pads show ★ On strip; click it to remove them from the strip.
• Hover over a clip's name and click to rename it. Enter or clicking elsewhere saves; Escape cancels. The saved name appears on the board, in search and on the strip. Leave it blank to restore the filename label. The audio file itself keeps its original name.

v0.9.0

OpenMic 0.9.0 redesigns the Voice page: every setting explains itself and shows what it's doing.

Voice page

• Each setting is one row, in the order your voice passes through them: Your mic, Remove rumble, Remove noise, Only my voice, Quiet cut-off, To Discord and Hear yourself.
• Every row has a plain name, one line saying what it does, a live picture of it working, and its value. The picture is also the control: drag inside it, scroll for fine steps, double-click to reset.
• Remove noise shows what comes in (blue shading) against what Discord hears (the green line), so you can see the noise it takes out. Click the model name under it to switch between DeepFilterNet and RNNoise.
• Only my voice shades green whenever your voice gets through; drag its line to set how sure it must be that you're talking.
• Switches turn settings on and off, and rows that are off are dimmed.
• Presets are one-click chips above the rows; + saves your own.
• The Simple/Advanced switch, the Processing card, the live scope and the mixer strip are replaced by the rows. Nothing appears twice.

Fixes

• Long device names no longer push the Voice page wider than the window; they're cut short, with the full name on hover.
• The status panel no longer says "Stopped" twice.
• The Soundboard page's hint now points at the Start button in the sidebar, and pads drop the redundant "Play now".

OpenMic 0.8.1 gives the strip's space to your soundboard.

The strip

• The level bar is gone. The microphone itself turns green while your voice goes out, red with a slash when muted, and grey when OpenMic is stopped. Click it to mute or unmute.
• Pad buttons are as wide as their names, so more fit. When the strip gets narrow, the preset goes first and pads stay.
• The strip sizes itself to fit your starred pads and preset. Drag its right edge to set your own width; it keeps that from then on.

v0.8.0

OpenMic 0.8.0 is a new layout: a sidebar app for setting up and tuning, which collapses into a thin strip for everyday use.

Sidebar

• Five pages: Voice (presets, noise reduction, the live scope and mixer, the headphone monitor and Test my mic), Soundboard, Record, Dictation, and Settings (routing and devices, hotkeys, startup, updates and logs).
• A status panel at the bottom of the sidebar stays on every page: whether Discord hears you, your output level, Mute, Start/Stop, and Collapse to strip.
• The Voice page shows where your voice goes in one line (Change opens the devices under Settings) and flags a missing VB-Cable or wrong output right there.

The strip

• Collapse to strip swaps the window for a thin always-on-top bar: click the microphone to mute, see your level, click the preset to switch to the next one, play your starred pads, and click ⛶ (or double-click) to expand again.
• Star a pad on the Soundboard page to put it on the strip.
• Drag the strip's right edge to resize it. Narrower, it drops pads, then the preset, then the bar, down to just the microphone, which replaces the old pinned meter.
• OpenMic reopens the way you left it: as the strip or as the window. Windows startup still starts in the notification area.

Fixes

• Several symbols (checklist ticks, the mic test's play buttons, the recording dot, the update dismiss button, the downloaded-model mark) drew as empty boxes because the built-in fonts don't have them. They now use symbols that exist, and a test checks every symbol in the interface.

v0.7.0

OpenMic 0.7.0 reorganizes the Microphone tab around what you use most, adds a mic test, and upgrades the soundboard.

Microphone tab

• Test my mic: record 5 seconds, then play it back Raw and Cleaned to hear exactly what Discord hears. It plays on your headphone monitor (or the Windows default output), never into Discord. Cleaned uses your current settings, so you can tune and listen again.
• A Get set up checklist for first runs: VB-Cable installed, microphone chosen, Discord's input device, and a mic test. Steps tick off as they're done; hide it any time.
• Simple and Advanced processing. Simple is a preset plus one Noise reduction slider; Advanced shows the model, gates, rumble filter and their charts.
• The level meters now sit beside the Your mic and To Discord sliders, like a mixer. The Monitor & Levels card is gone: Headphone monitor moved to Routing, and Pin meter to screen to the live scope.

Soundboard

• Pads show each clip's length and a progress bar while playing.
• Drag a pad onto another to reorder the board. With more than nine clips, a search box filters them.
• Trim a pad from its right-click menu: drag the start and end on the waveform, or type them. The audio file isn't changed.

Window

• OpenMic reopens at the size and position you left it, on the right monitor.

OpenMic 0.6.5 keeps the pinned level meter on top.

Fixes

• The level meter no longer disappears when you click another window. Windows raises the taskbar (and some other always-on-top windows, like the Snipping Tool) each time a different window comes to the front, which hid a meter placed on or near the taskbar. OpenMic now puts the meter back on top whenever the window in front changes, without taking focus from the app you're using.

v0.6.4

OpenMic 0.6.4 refines the pinned level meter and puts the main voice controls beside the live scope.

Level meter

• Click the microphone to mute or unmute; a red slash shows when it's muted. The separate Mute button is gone.
• Drag the meter's right edge to resize it, down to just the microphone. When it's narrow, the level runs as a strip under the icon. The size is remembered.
• Fixed the meter looking doubled on setups with monitors at different display scaling. It's now placed once and its position is saved in screen pixels, so it comes back in the same spot on either monitor. After updating, it appears once at the default spot.

Live scope

• Your mic, To Discord and Reduction are now sliders to the right of the scope, each showing its value. Scroll over a slider for fine steps and double-click it to reset; hovering one highlights the line it controls. You can still drag the blue and green lines on the scope.

• Pin meter to screen (under Monitor & Levels, or Pin level meter in the tray menu) shows a small always-on-top meter of what Discord hears. The mic dot is green while your voice goes out, red when muted, and grey when OpenMic is stopped, next to the output level with a peak marker. It keeps working while OpenMic is hidden in the tray.
• Drag the meter anywhere; it remembers where you put it. Double-click it to open OpenMic, and hover it for Mute and × to unpin.
