OpenMic 0.8.0 is a new layout: a sidebar app for setting up and tuning, which collapses into a thin strip for everyday use.

Sidebar

• Five pages: Voice (presets, noise reduction, the live scope and mixer, the headphone monitor and Test my mic), Soundboard, Record, Dictation, and Settings (routing and devices, hotkeys, startup, updates and logs).
• A status panel at the bottom of the sidebar stays on every page: whether Discord hears you, your output level, Mute, Start/Stop, and Collapse to strip.
• The Voice page shows where your voice goes in one line (Change opens the devices under Settings) and flags a missing VB-Cable or wrong output right there.

The strip

• Collapse to strip swaps the window for a thin always-on-top bar: click the microphone to mute, see your level, click the preset to switch to the next one, play your starred pads, and click ⛶ (or double-click) to expand again.
• Star a pad on the Soundboard page to put it on the strip.
• Drag the strip's right edge to resize it. Narrower, it drops pads, then the preset, then the bar, down to just the microphone, which replaces the old pinned meter.
• OpenMic reopens the way you left it: as the strip or as the window. Windows startup still starts in the notification area.

Fixes

• Several symbols (checklist ticks, the mic test's play buttons, the recording dot, the update dismiss button, the downloaded-model mark) drew as empty boxes because the built-in fonts don't have them. They now use symbols that exist, and a test checks every symbol in the interface.

Download and upgrade

Click the version number (or wait for the daily check), then Update and Restart to update. Or download openmic-v0.8.0-windows-x64.exe and run it in place of the previous version. If you had pinned the level meter, use Collapse to strip instead.

Requires Windows 10 or 11 (x64) and the Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable (x64). The .sha256 and .sig assets hold the executable's checksum and signature.
