Barony Android Port 5.0.2 Beta 2
Pre-releaseSuperseded: Please use Barony Android Port 5.0.2 Beta 3, which includes the verified mobile GPU and touch-visibility compatibility fixes.
Second public beta of the native Barony Android port.
Beta 2 adds a simpler installation path: correctly copied Barony v5.0.2 files no longer need a pre-generated Android manifest. The app validates the owned files against pinned hashes and creates the manifest itself.
Requirements
- ARM64 Android device running Android 8.0 or newer
- Purchased Windows installation of Barony v5.0.2
The APK contains engine code and open-source notices only. It does not contain Barony maps, models, music, sounds, DLC, or other commercial game data.
Easier installation
-
Download the ARM64 APK and its
.sha256file. -
Verify the checksum, then open the APK on the Android device and install it.
-
Launch Barony Android Port once to create its data folder.
-
Copy the required contents of the PC Barony installation into:
Android/data/com.zhdan.baronyport/files/barony-dataThe
maps, models, music, sound, and other required folders must be directly insidebarony-data, not inside anotherBaronyfolder. -
Return to the app and select Retry.
See ANDROID.md for the exact folder layout.
Android 11 and newer may hide or restrict Android/data on some devices. If that happens, use the ADB method below.
Reliable ADB installation
Download the APK and Barony-Android-Data-Installer-5.0.2.ps1, then run:
adb install -r Barony-Android-Port-5.0.2-android-beta2-arm64-v8a.apk
Unblock-File .\Barony-Android-Data-Installer-5.0.2.ps1
.\Barony-Android-Data-Installer-5.0.2.ps1The script validates the owned Steam files and copies only the required data directly from the PC to the connected phone.
Working in this beta
- Native ARM64 gameplay with OpenGL ES 3
- Offline single-player
- Physical gamepads, mouse and keyboard
- Automatic Menu, Gameplay, and Inventory/UI touch controls
- Music and sound through OpenAL Soft
- Save/config storage in Android app-private storage
- GameSir connect/disconnect handoff
- Automatic validation of manually copied Barony v5.0.2 data
Tested on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with a GameSir G8 controller. The final release candidate passed all six startup markers, a missing-manifest creation/relaunch test, and an AudioFlinger check with zero added underrun frames.
Known limitations
- Multiplayer and online services are disabled and untested.
- Achievements and workshop integration are unavailable.
- Direct folder copying depends on whether the device exposes its app-specific
Android/datafolder. - Controller glyphs need broader device coverage.
- Touch-layout customization and haptics are not implemented.
Install updates over the existing app. Do not uninstall first if you want Android to preserve internal saves.
