Fixes

  • Windows: scrolling pages with 3D tiles no longer degrades over time. This was a 1.3.1 regression in the whole-page 2D-under-the-lens overlay. On pages such as the DisplayXR gallery, scrolling could slow to about 48 fps with 41 ms frame gaps, because every frame made three full-window surface copies and the GPU process saturated a CPU core. Those copies are gone, and scrolling now holds 58-60 fps with 16.8 ms gaps. In a 100 s scroll test there were 23 slow frames, down from 149-603 in 1.3.1. (browser-pvt#226, browser-pvt#232)
  • Windows: static pages with several 3D tiles now reuse the lens-filtered 2D layer. On the gallery the cached 2D layer is now reused on 100% of frames (1.3.1: 0%), so the display processor reruns its lens filter only when the flat content actually changes. (browser-pvt#232)

Notes

  • New safety floor. While 3D tiles are moving (for example during a scroll), the page temporarily falls back to the classic composite. Lens filtering of the 2D page returns about 10 frames after scrolling stops. A page that never reuses the cached layer and also misses its frame budget is backed off to the classic composite automatically.
  • three.js-style pages behave as in 1.3.1: about 98% reuse at 60 fps.
  • Measured on the panel with an RTX 3080 laptop at 3840x2040.
  • The whole-page 2D overlay is Windows-only, so Android and Linux see no user-visible change in this release. Same requirements as 1.3.0: LeiaSR runtime 1.38.0+1874 or later for the 2D-under-the-lens path, otherwise the previous composite is used.

Security updates follow Chrome stable. Every Chrome stable point release is rebuilt and published automatically when the browser's own code is untouched upstream, and verified on a DisplayXR display first when it is not. Not affiliated with Google; Google account sign-in and sync are not available.

Android APK: release-signed (CN=DisplayXR Browser). If you have any preview up to and including 0.1.24 installed, UNINSTALL it before installing this one - those were debug-key signed and Android refuses an install that changes the signing key (browser#188).

Linux (.deb, x64): sudo apt install ./displayxr-browser_1.3.2-1_amd64.deb - needs displayxr-runtime (>= 2.22.2) from DisplayXR/displayxr-runtime releases. A newer .deb upgrades in place; there is no apt repository.
