🏷️ The NFC Smart Pantry

Turn your physical house into an interactive database! By placing cheap NFC stickers (like NTAG215) on your storage bins, you can consume products or complete chores simply by tapping your phone against the bin.

🛠️ Step 1: Write the NFC Tag

  1. Open the Home Assistant Companion App on your smartphone.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Tags.
  3. Click Add Tag in the bottom right corner.
  4. Name your tag (e.g., Dog Food Bin) and click Create and Write.
  5. Hold your phone against the physical NFC sticker until it buzzes and confirms the write was successful.

🤖 Step 2: Create the Automation

Now, we tell Home Assistant exactly which backend services to fire when that specific tag is scanned.

  1. Go to Settings > Automations & Scenes > Automations.
  2. Click Create Automation -> Edit in YAML.
  3. Paste the following template and adjust the IDs for your setup:
alias: "Grocy: NFC Tap - Feed the Dogs"
mode: single
trigger:
  - platform: tag
    tag_id: "YOUR_SCANNED_TAG_ID_HERE" # Replace with your tag's ID
action:
  # Action 1: Consume 1 portion of Dog Food
  - action: grocy.consume_product_from_stock
    data:
product_id: 42 # Replace with the Grocy product ID
      amount: 1
      transaction_type: CONSUME

  # Action 2: Check off the daily chore
  - action: grocy.execute_chore
    data:
chore_id: 15 # Replace with the Grocy chore ID

Now, just tap your phone to the bin. The Command Center on your wall will instantly update, your stock will drop, and your chore will be marked complete!
