Parley 1.9.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 00:26

Parley 1.9.3

New

  • WoW: Forever beta (beta support): the addon now loads in the Forever beta, and Parley installs it into the beta's _classic_beta_ folder automatically. Forever uses Retail's addon rules, so like on Retail, Blizzard may hide chat from addons in some situations; Parley says so in the overlay and picks up again afterwards.
  • Parley now recognises new WoW builds by their game window, even if the game program has a new name.

Updating

Right-click the tray icon and choose Update to Parley 1.9.3, or download Parley-Setup.exe below. Type /reload in WoW afterwards.

  • Parley-addon-1.6.2.zip: the addon on its own.

Parley 1.9.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 21:13

Parley 1.9.2

Changed

  • Addon 1.6.1 is marked as up to date for Retail 12.1.5, so WoW no longer lists it as out of date there. Nothing else changed in the addon.
  • New screenshots and clearer install notes in the docs.

Updating

Right-click the tray icon and choose Update to Parley 1.9.2, or download Parley-Setup.exe below. The app puts the new addon into your WoW folders automatically; type /reload if WoW is running.

  • Parley-addon-1.6.1.zip: the addon on its own.

Parley 1.9.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 20:14

Parley 1.9.1

Changed

  • Parley no longer opens the WoW process at all. It now finds the WoW window through Windows' list of running programs. (Before, it briefly opened the process with the most limited access Windows has, only to read the program's name.) The app still never reads game memory, injects anything or sends input; it only reads the few pixels the addon draws on screen.
  • Clearer, more honest docs. The README, User Guide and "How it works" now describe exactly what the app touches, and quote the part of Blizzard's EULA about software that collects information from the game. Parley has not been reviewed or approved by Blizzard; please read "Is this safe?" in the User Guide.

Updating

Right-click the tray icon and choose Update to Parley 1.9.1, or download Parley-Setup.exe below. Your settings are kept. The WoW addon is unchanged (still 1.6.0).

Parley 1.9.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 13:39

Parley 1.9.0

New

  • See what your reply says: under each reply Parley shows it translated back into your language, so you can check the meaning before you paste it. (Tray icon → Check replies by translating them back to turn it off.)
  • Conversation view: right-click a message → Conversation with … to see just that player's messages and your replies, handy for whisper chats while Trade scrolls by.

Fixed and faster

  • Menus no longer show a spinning or resize mouse pointer.
  • Arrows in the WoW skins ("You » PT-BR") show up again.
  • Clicking a button to close its menu no longer reopens it.
  • A stuck offline translator can no longer freeze Parley or block updates.
  • Settings are saved safely, with a backup.
  • Your never-translate list also covers replies.
  • Less CPU: no needless redraws, and much less work while WoW is closed or minimized.
  • Plus a dozen smaller fixes: see the changelog.

Updating

Right-click the tray icon and choose Update to Parley 1.9.0. On versions before 1.7.0, download Parley-Setup.exe below; your settings are kept.

The WoW addon is unchanged (still 1.6.0).

Parley 1.8.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 04:39

Parley 1.8.0

New

  • Never-translate list: Settings → Never translate these names or words. Add your guild name, nicknames or inside jokes and Parley leaves them exactly as written, in chat and in your replies.
  • Burning Crusade and Pandaria place names: Shattrath, Karazhan, Hellfire Ramparts, Temple of the Jade Serpent, Siege of Orgrimmar and about 55 more are recognised in every WoW language and shown by the name your client uses.

Updating

On Parley 1.7.0: right-click the tray icon and choose Update to Parley 1.8.0. That's it.
On older versions: download Parley-Setup.exe below and run it; your settings are kept.

The WoW addon is unchanged (still 1.6.0).

Parley 1.7.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 01:03

Parley 1.7.0

New

  • One-click updates: from now on, when a new version is out, right-click the tray icon and choose Update to Parley x.y.z. Parley downloads it, checks it against GitHub's checksum, installs it and restarts itself, with your settings kept. (This release itself still needs to be installed the usual way.)
  • More WoW versions (beta): the addon now also loads on the Anniversary realms and Mists of Pandaria Classic, besides Classic Era and Retail. Parley installs it into every WoW version it finds. Please report anything odd.
  • Faster update check: Parley now looks for new versions right after it opens, then every few hours.

Download

  • Parley-Setup.exe: the app plus the WoW addon. Installing over an older version keeps your settings.
  • Parley-addon-1.6.0.zip: the addon on its own (1.6.0 adds the Anniversary and Mists of Pandaria Classic versions).

Parley 1.6.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 00:30

Parley 1.6.0

New

  • Azure Translator engine: a second online option next to DeepL, with 2 million characters a month free on Microsoft's free tier. Settings → Translation engine → Azure, then paste your key and region (how to get one). If Azure is down or out of characters, Parley falls back to offline.
  • Quick replies: the speech-bubble button next to the mic opens ten common phrases (Invite me, please, On my way!, Thanks for the group!, Sorry, I don't speak your language well…), already translated into Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, German, French, Italian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese. One click and it's copied, ready to paste.
  • Alerts: messages that mention your character, or words you choose (Deadmines, WTB, healer…), get an orange bar and a soft sound. Settings → Alert me when a message mentions.
  • Auto-hide: tray icon → Auto-hide overlay. The overlay fades away when chat is quiet and fades back in as soon as someone writes in another language (or with Ctrl+Shift+T).
  • Tooltips: hover over any menu option, setting or overlay button to see what it does.
  • Update notice: Parley checks for new versions about once a day and offers the download in the tray menu.

Download

  • Parley-Setup.exe: the app plus the WoW addon. Installing over 1.5.0 keeps your settings.
  • Parley-addon-1.5.0.zip: the addon on its own (1.5.0 adds character-name alerts).

Parley 1.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Duhlude Duhlude released this 29 Sep 20:59

Parley 1.5.0 · first public release

Live chat translation for World of Warcraft Classic Era (Retail: beta). Players from Brazil, Russia, Spain, Germany, Korea and everywhere else share your realm; Parley shows what they're saying in your language and translates your replies back into theirs.

Download

  • Parley-Setup.exe: installs the Windows app and puts the addon into your WoW folder. This is all most people need.
  • Parley-addon-1.4.0.zip: the addon on its own, if you install addons by hand (it's also on CurseForge).

Requires Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and WoW in Windowed (Fullscreen) mode. Step-by-step instructions: INSTALL.txt.

Highlights

  • No account needed. Translation runs offline on your PC with the open models Firefox uses. Each language downloads once (about 50 MB). Chat never leaves your computer.
  • Optional DeepL. Paste a DeepL API key for the best quality; Parley falls back to offline if DeepL is down or out of characters.
  • Reply in their language. Click a message, type in English, press Enter: Parley translates it, adds /w Name (or /p, /4 …) and copies it for you to paste.
  • Knows gamer talk. Dungeon and city names in every client language (Мертвые копи, Ventobravo, 死亡矿井 → Deadmines, Stormwind), slang like vlw, спс, лс, хил, and "I can tank" → posso tankar.
  • Five skins: Classic WoW, Retail WoW, Dragonflight, WoW chat frame and a modern dark theme, with matching menus and settings.
  • In your language. The app, installer and addon follow your Windows / WoW language (German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Chinese).
  • Extras: voice replies (Ctrl+Shift+Y), right-click to copy / reply / mute, click-through overlay, daily chat history.

Retail (beta)

The addon loads on Retail 12.1 but hasn't had much testing there. During Mythic+ keys, PvP matches and boss fights Blizzard hides chat from all addons, so Parley pauses and says so in the overlay. Please open an issue if anything looks wrong.

Good to know

  • Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC" because the installer isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway.
  • Parley never reads game memory, injects code or presses keys; it reads a small strip of pixels the addon draws. It's a fan project, not endorsed by Blizzard. Use at your own risk.
