General Use
This page explains the core sound playback features and interaction modes of the Engage Pro Elite.
Buttons support multiple interaction types:
- Click
- Short Hold
- Long Hold
Depending on the sound pack template, each interaction may trigger different audio categories or behaviours.
A normal button press ("click") will trigger audio on the assigned button. Each press triggers the next audio. (Current audio needs to finish before next line can be played).
Holding a button briefly may trigger a different category of sounds from the same button.
Example:
- Click = Yes responses
- Short Hold = Greeting responses
This allows a single button to support multiple sound categories.
Some templates support polyphonic audio using a long hold.
Polyphonic audio allows a looping background sound to continue playing while other sounds are triggered simultaneously.
A long hold may activate a continuous breathing loop.
While the breathing audio is active:
- Other buttons can still trigger voice lines and effects
- Multiple sounds will play together
This creates a layered, cinematic audio experience.
- Press and hold the assigned button
- The looping audio will begin
- Press and hold the same button again (template dependent)
Some templates support an interactive Q & A Mode.
This is designed to simulate conversations between characters.
Pressing a Q & A assigned button will:
- Put the device into Q & A Mode
- Play the initial audio/question
While in Q & A Mode:
- Replays the initial question/audio
- Keeps the unit in Q & A Mode
- Play optional responses (check template)
- Automatically exit Q & A Mode after playback
- Exits Q & A Mode without playing a sound
- Q & A Mode is only available on supported templates
- Button assignments may vary between sound packs
- Some templates may use different conversation layouts
The Engage Pro Elite can store up to 6 character profiles.
Each profile contains its own:
-
Sound pack
-
Button layout
-
Character interactions
-
Q & A behaviour
When powered on, the device will always load the first installed profile by default.
The boot sound for that profile will automatically play during startup.
To switch to the next installed character profile:
-
Hold Button 1
-
Press Button 8
The next profile will load and its boot sound will play.
Repeat the process to cycle through available profiles
