General Use

This page explains the core sound playback features and interaction modes of the Engage Pro Elite.

⚠️ Some behaviour depends on the currently installed sound pack or character template.

🎛 Basic Button Behaviour

Buttons support multiple interaction types:

  • Click
  • Short Hold
  • Long Hold

Depending on the sound pack template, each interaction may trigger different audio categories or behaviours.

▶️ Click Actions

A normal button press ("click") will typically trigger a standard sound.

Examples:

  • Voice lines
  • Effects
  • Character responses
  • Conversation prompts

Some templates may assign an entire category of sounds to a button click.

Repeated presses may:

  • cycle through multiple sounds
  • randomise playback
  • continue a conversation flow

⏱ Short Hold Actions

Holding a button briefly may trigger a different category of sounds from the same button.

Example:

  • Click = standard conversation lines
  • Short Hold = aggressive or alternate responses

This allows a single button to support multiple sound categories.

⚠️ Behaviour varies depending on the installed sound pack template.

🔁 Long Hold & Polyphonic Audio

Some templates support polyphonic audio using a long hold.

Polyphonic audio allows a looping background sound to continue playing while other sounds are triggered simultaneously.

🎵 Example: Darth Vader Breathing

A long hold may activate a continuous breathing loop.

While the breathing audio is active:

  • Other buttons can still trigger voice lines and effects
  • Multiple sounds will play together

This creates a layered, cinematic audio experience.

▶️ Starting Polyphonic Audio

  1. Press and hold the assigned button
  2. The looping audio will begin

⏹ Stopping Polyphonic Audio

  • Press the same button again (template dependent)
  • Or perform the assigned stop action

⚠️ Polyphonic behaviour depends on the sound pack template.

🎤 Q & A Mode

Some templates support an interactive Q & A Mode.

This is designed to simulate conversations between characters.

▶️ Entering Q & A Mode

Pressing a Q & A assigned button will:

  1. Put the device into Q & A Mode
  2. Play the initial audio/question

🎛 Q & A Controls

While in Q & A Mode:

Button 1

  • Replays the initial question/audio
  • Keeps the unit in Q & A Mode

Buttons 2 – 4

  • Play optional responses
  • Automatically exit Q & A Mode after playback

Button 8

  • Exits Q & A Mode without playing a sound

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Q & A Mode is only available on supported templates
  • Button assignments may vary between sound packs
  • Some templates may use different conversation layouts
