Migrating Engage Pro Character Templates to Engage Pro Elite

This guide explains how to migrate existing character templates from the original Engage Pro system to the Engage Pro Elite using the Engage Pro Elite Character Pack Tool. Please ensure your device is running Firmware 2.2.7 or later before uploading character packs.


⚠️ Before You Begin

You will need:

  • Your original Engage Pro SD card
  • A computer with SD card access
  • An SD card adapter or reader
  • Your Engage Pro Elite device

πŸ’Ύ Step 1 – Access the Original SD Card

  1. Power off your Engage Pro
  2. Remove the SD card
  3. Insert the SD card into your computer using an adapter or reader

πŸ“ Step 2 – Locate the Character Folder

Open the SD card and locate the character bank you wish to migrate.

Example folders:

bank1
bank2
bank3
bank4
bank5
bank6

Open the folder for the character you want to transfer.

Inside you will see the audio files for that character template.


⬇️ Step 3 – Download the Character Pack Tool

  1. Download the latest:
Engage Pro Elite Character Pack Tool.zip

from the Engage Pro Elite GitHub page.

  1. Save the ZIP file to your computer.

Recommended locations:

Downloads
Desktop
Documents

πŸ“¦ Step 4 – Extract the Tool ZIP

  1. Right click the downloaded ZIP file
  2. Select:
Extract All
  1. Choose where to extract the files
  2. Click:
Extract

Windows will create a new folder containing the Character Pack Tool.


πŸš€ Step 5 – Launch the Character Pack Tool

Open the extracted folder and launch:

Engage Pro Elite Character Pack Tool

The tool automatically creates a firmware-compatible ZIP file for use with the Engage Pro Elite WiFi Portal.


πŸ“‚ Step 6 – Select the Source Folder

In the tool:

  1. Click:
Browse

next to Source Folder

  1. Select the original character bank folder from your SD card

Example:

SD Card\bank3

πŸ’Ύ Step 7 – Select the ZIP Destination

  1. Click:
Browse

next to Destination

  1. Select where you want the generated ZIP file saved

Recommended locations:

Desktop
Downloads
Documents

⚠️ Do NOT select the original character folder itself as the destination.


πŸ‘€ Step 8 – Enter the Character Name

In the Character Name field, enter the name you want displayed inside the Engage Pro Elite portal.

Examples:

Boba Fett - ESB
The Mandalorian
Darth Vader

The tool automatically creates or updates the required:

character.txt

file for you.


πŸ“¦ Step 9 – Create the Character Pack ZIP

  1. Click:
Create Pro Elite ZIP

The tool will:

  • Validate the folder structure
  • Create/update character.txt
  • Build a firmware-compatible ZIP file
  • Display progress during creation

Once complete, the ZIP file will be ready for upload.

  1. Power on your Engage Pro Elite in WiFi Portal Mode
  2. Open the WiFi Portal

  1. Navigate to the character/profile upload section
  2. Select the generated ZIP file
  3. Follow the on-screen upload process

πŸ‘€ Character Profiles on Engage Pro Elite

The Engage Pro Elite supports up to 6 character profiles.

Once uploaded:

  • The character will appear in the portal profile list
  • Profiles can be switched directly from the device

⚠️ Important Notes

  • The Character Pack Tool creates the correct ZIP structure automatically
  • The generated ZIP is specifically formatted for Engage Pro Elite firmware compatibility
  • Hidden/system files are ignored automatically
  • Existing .zip files inside the source folder are ignored automatically

❌ Common Issues

Character Not Appearing

  • character.txt missing or invalid
  • Incorrect source folder selected
  • Uploading to a non-empty bank

Upload Fails

  • ZIP file corrupted
  • WiFi connection interrupted
  • Uploading to a bank that already contains files

Sounds Missing or Incorrect

  • Original sound pack incomplete
  • Incorrect files copied to original SD card
  • Unsupported or missing audio files
