AbyssME 0.3.0 Beta 3
AbyssME 0.3.0 Beta 3
A maintenance beta for the shared Java, Mophun and experimental Symbian / N-Gage library.
Downloads
- Handheld: landscape, physical-controller focused.
- Phone: portrait and landscape, numeric keypad or virtual Gamepad.
- Both APKs require Android 10+ and 64-bit ARM. Install over the matching
previous release to retain its data; the variants have independent libraries. - Games and phone firmware are not included.
Changes Since Beta 1
-
Added Light, Dark and Follow system appearance across the library, settings,
installer, game menus and Phone controls. Improved the mapper on narrow screens. -
Phone users can hide Display and Screenshot shortcuts independently under
More > On-screen shortcuts or Settings > Playing. Menu remains available. -
Restored tactile feedback for the numeric and Gamepad touch layouts across all
three engines. Controls > Tactile feedback supports Try / Keep / Undo.
Android's touch-feedback setting is respected; this does not add controller rumble. -
Improved Java screen startup, screen changes and pause/resume through shared
lifecycle handling. This is not a guarantee that every previously blank game works. -
Automatic Java setup now uses explicit size and phone hints in original JAR
filenames, below declared game metadata. Existing/manual profiles are preserved. -
Added per-game FPS presets in More and Display, with persistent Try / Keep / Undo
and steadier frame pacing. This is a frame limit, not a universal speed fix. -
Identical Java imports from another location offer reuse of an installed game
or a separate copy. Confirmed reuse preserves saves/settings and is remembered. -
Improved returning to external launchers after cancellation and errors. Installed
native games can export an.abyssmelaunch file. See launcher setup. -
System-file import accepts ZIP/7z archives containing a ROM and matching RPKG.
Import errors remain visible, with guidance about missing requirements. -
Supported SIS/SISX games can be uninstalled from their exact virtual phone,
with backup access, dependency checks and verification before library removal.
Protected/shared packages and unsupported ownership cases are blocked. -
Game information now shows the installed Java game's version and vendor.
-
N-Gage card entries remain visible when ordinary SIS games share the same phone.
Identification is per installed card, rather than assuming the whole drive contains one game.
Known Limits
Symbian / N-Gage remains experimental. Snakes has reached gameplay; native
Asphalt 3 cold relaunch remains unreliable. Card-only and N-Gage 2.0 game removal
are not supported by the SIS uninstaller. Legacy dependencies and broad mixed-
platform collections still need work. System files must be supplied separately.
Beacon, Pegasus and Daijisho were exercised on Retroid during development;
ES-DE has not been verified. Intermittent game-startup reports, physical
controller ergonomics and perceived haptics on other phones remain open.
Passing instrumentation is not full-game, audio-listening or human acceptance.
Verification and Sources
Release verification
separates final signed-APK checks from earlier development tests.
Current project status
is the handoff for announcements and website copy.
Matching app source, Android dependency sources, pinned Symbian engine sources
and SHA-256 checksums accompany the APKs. Component notices remain intact;
GitHub Actions stays disabled and publication is manual.
AbyssME 0.3.0 Beta 1
AbyssME 0.3.0 Beta 1
Java, Mophun and experimental Symbian / N-Gage in the same Android library.
Downloads
- Handheld: landscape, physical-controller focused.
- Phone: portrait/landscape, numeric keypad or virtual Gamepad.
- Android 10+ and 64-bit ARM (arm64-v8a) are required for these combined APKs.
The previous 0.2 beta remains available for other supported architectures. - Updates retain the existing Java/Mophun library. The variants have separate
data. Private Symbian test packages are separate installations, not upgrades
of these production packages; use Phone backups to transfer their phone data. - No games or phone firmware are included.
New
- One in-game menu for Java, Mophun and Symbian: Resume, Display, Controls,
Screenshot, More and Exit game. Screenshot is available for Java Canvas games,
not LCDUI forms. Screenshot-button visibility is under More. - Exit confirmation stays paused in the same menu. Resume has first controller
focus, including while a settings trial is active. Existing Try/Keep/Undo,
held-Select mapping and engine-specific settings remain available. - Embedded Symbian / original N-Gage / N-Gage 2.0 import and launch. Installed
native games join Gallery/List/Grid, search, Favorites and Recent. - System files can be added before games. Setup explains which phone dump or
installer is needed and resumes retained imports after requirements are added. - SIS/SISX and native game ZIP/RAR/7z import, batch selection, reusable component
installers, per-file results and recoverable queues. A phone choice can be
reused for the same package type in one archive. - Symbian display rotation/scaling, per-game controller mapping, Phone numeric
and Gamepad decks, direct guest touch and screenshots. - Menu-based whole-phone backup/restore for Symbian games, saves and controls.
Java/Mophun continue to use Library transfer.
Getting Started With Symbian
Open System files from the library/settings menu and add a compatible
EKA2L1 phone dump: a prepared ZIP/7z, or ROM with its matching RPKG when required.
Then use the library + to add the game. N-Gage 2.0 games also require their
platform installer; setup requests it separately and reuses the saved copy.
Use only files you have the right to use.
Known Limits
Symbian support is experimental. Snakes has reached gameplay on Retroid;
Asphalt 3 has reached a race but cold relaunch remains unreliable. These are
not complete-game, audio-listening or save/relaunch compatibility guarantees.
Legacy/conditional SIS dependencies, universal mixed-platform archives and native
external-launcher integration remain incomplete. One retained import queue is
supported; game archives have a 1 GB limit. Encrypted/multipart archives are
not supported. A native installation interrupted mid-write requires explicit
retry, not an automatic rollback claim.
Java/Mophun functionality from 0.2 remains. GeneralUser GS supplies Symbian MIDI
instruments, so their timbre need not match a particular old phone.
Sources and Checks

Source archives, dependency materials, notices and SHA-256 checksums accompany
the APKs. GitHub Actions remains disabled; publication is manual.
AbyssME 0.2.0 Beta 1
AbyssME 0.2.0 Beta 1
The first public combined Java + experimental Mophun beta, with the replacement
M3G renderer and the accumulated controls, display and library improvements.
Android 10 or newer is required. Games and firmware are not included.
Choose a Build
AbyssME-0.2.0-beta.1-handheld.apk: landscape, physical controllers, no touch keypad.AbyssME-0.2.0-beta.1-phone.apk: portrait/landscape, numeric keypad or virtual Gamepad.
Both variants can coexist and keep separate libraries. Version code is 200.
Package IDs and release signing key are unchanged from beta.2, so update the
matching release app without uninstalling it. Make a backup first. Debug/test
packages remain separate: use Library transfer to move their games and saves.
Changes Since 0.1.0 Beta 2
- Replaced the old M3G 3D renderer and tone compiler. The old EPL engine is
removed; Mascot Capsule support remains. GLES acceleration and a software/
native fallback are included, without a renderer-selection setup step. - Added experimental Mophun
.mpnimport and play inside the same library.
Deep Abyss is the main tested title. Shared controller and Phone touch controls,
game settings, screenshots and library return are available. - Added a graphical per-game controller mapper, named presets and diagonal
direction combinations. Phone offers two touch layouts in both orientations. - Made Display and Controls available while playing, with reversible Try / Keep /
Undo changes. More includes quick screen-size and phone-profile presets;
profile changes explicitly restart the game and can lose unsaved progress. - Improved small-screen menus, library layout, cover/icon display and installers.
Added screenshots with an optional on-screen button. - Added menu-based J2ME Loader import and AbyssME library backup/restore, including
supported profiles and saved data. Folder-access recovery and import errors are
clearer; Android storage-provider restrictions still apply. - Tightened automatic size/vendor selection, added resolution-aware default fonts,
and fixed optimized-build profile persistence/restart and framed-JAR import. - Published the combined application under GPLv3, preserving component licenses,
with matching app/dependency source materials. This does not relicense games or
old releases. GitHub Actions remains disabled.
Verification and Limits
Both signed variants build and pass release lint and APK composition checks.
The Retroid production debug renderer passes 363 checks; 25 fixture-free Mophun
checks pass on Retroid and Phone emulator. The actual signed Phone beta.2 upgrade
retains an installed MIDlet and reads/writes its previous RMS save.
Signed Retroid gameplay checks reach Asphalt 3 3D racing and Deep Abyss gameplay;
Phone reaches Deep Abyss with touch controls. See the verification report.
This remains a beta. Mophun compatibility and audio are experimental, not universal.
No full-game completion, every controller or sustained thermal performance is
claimed. Some games still need manual settings. External launcher acceptance,
URI-alias duplicate imports and the reported Ghost Recon black screen remain
open. Symbian and N-Gage are not included.
Files and Sources
The release provides two APKs, SHA256SUMS.txt, AbyssME-0.2.0-beta.1-source.zip
and AbyssME-0.2.0-beta.1-dependency-sources.zip. The dependency bundle contains
source JARs, native source/build materials, provenance and licenses, not another
APK. Read its README and the app's CONTRIBUTING/LICENSING documents to rebuild.
