/quest test checks the mod and writes a report to justquests-diagnostics.log. Add that file when you ask for help on Discord or in the issue tracker.
-
Is the JSON valid? A quest with an error is skipped, and the server log says why. Look for
Custom quest <id> failed,Custom quest <id> invalidorFailed to parse quest. -
Does the key start with
_? Incustom-quests.json, those are the examples and don't count as quests. -
Is it in the right folder? A datapack quest belongs in
data/<namespace>/justquests/quests/<id>.json. -
Did you reload? Datapacks need
/reload.custom-quests.jsonreloads by itself when saved. -
Is the pack format right? Minecraft warns about a datapack made for another version. Check
pack_formatinpack.mcmeta. -
Does it have
permission? Players without the node don't see the quest. -
Does it have
requires? It is locked until those quests are done./quest listshows what it needs. - Does it use an addon's objective? The addon has to be on the server and the client.
| Situation | Reason and fix |
|---|---|
collect_item, and the items came from crafting |
collect_item only counts items picked up from the ground. Use craft_item, or have_item for any source. |
collect_item, and the items came from a machine or a chest |
Same reason. Use have_item. For Create's machines, see the Create Addon. |
An item filter on use_item
|
use_item counts per item type and ignores filters. |
A filter on collect_item with an anvil name |
Filters are checked on the item the event is about. They work best with consume_item, enchant_item and craft_item. |
| Items were already in the inventory | Only have_item counts those. |
| The quest was not accepted | Goals only count for active quests. Check with /quest progress. |
- Does the machine have a known owner who is offline? Then nobody gets the progress.
- Was the machine placed before the addon was installed, or by a schematic? Then the nearest player within 32 blocks gets it, so stay close, or place the machine again.
- Is the objective's
itemwhat comes out of the machine? - Does the machine work on an item? A saw cutting down a tree or a deployer working on a block doesn't count.
More in Create Addon.
- Press J after joining the world. On 1.18 and 1.19 there is no book, so use
/quest list. - The mod has to be on the server and the client.
- Did you hide the built-in quests and turn off generated quests? Then only your own quests show. See Settings.
Finished quests wait until you claim them. Click Claim in the book, use the chat button, or run /quest claim. To pay rewards out at once, set "claimRewards": false in Settings.
The file name says it: JustQuests-<loader>-<minecraft version>-<version>.jar. Pick your exact Minecraft version. See Installation.
