GRUB2 Theme Builder v1.1.0
Linux Font Conversion Requirement
Before converting fonts to the GRUB .pf2 format on Linux, you must install GRUB2FontBuilder first.
1. Download GRUB2FontBuilder
Download and install GRUB2FontBuilder from its official source before using the font conversion feature.
2. Install the required Linux packages
Open a terminal and run:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install grub-common grub2-common libfreetype6 libfreetype6-dev fontconfig3. Verify the installation
Make sure grub-mkfont is available:
which grub-mkfontThen check:
grub-mkfont --versionIf the command returns the installed GRUB version, the font converter is ready to use.
4. Convert a font
Once GRUB2FontBuilder and the required dependencies are installed, you can convert a .ttf or .otf font into a GRUB .pf2 font.
Example:
grub-mkfont -s 24 -o MyFont.pf2 MyFont.ttfThe resulting .pf2 file can then be used by GRUB themes.
Important: GRUB2FontBuilder and the required GRUB font tools must be installed before attempting Linux font conversion. The application cannot guarantee font conversion if the required GRUB tools are missing from the system.
