Directions, Routing, and Logistics Services

Directions, routing, and logistics services can be used to perform route, closest facility, service area, location-allocation or vehicle routing problem analyses on transportation networks. The services can be configured with Portal for ArcGIS as route and network utility services and used with applications such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, or the analysis tools in the portal map viewer.

The below pages explain how these routing services can be published to an ArcGIS Server site using street data from StreetMap Premium for ArcGIS. The steps need to be completed in the given order.

  1. Software and Data Requirements
  2. Data Setup
  3. Publish Routing Services
  4. Configuring Routing Services with Portal for ArcGIS

If you are upgrading to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5, you need to republish the directions and routing services using the same workflow that is described above. Refer to the what's new page to find out the new features specific to directions and routing services in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5.
