Origin of the Name

Foundups is not a platform. It is not a company. It is not a product.

It is a wave-riding engine — a fully autonomous system for launching FoundUps as the alternative to startups, where 80% of value returns to the system rather than extracting to investors.

The name Windsurf is not metaphor. It is the operating model.

The Five Elements

Why This Is Not a Startup

Startups are built to extract. Capital goes in, equity is distributed up, and the system is designed to exit — to be acquired, to IPO, to return capital to investors at the expense of the builders and stakeholders who created the value.

FoundUps invert this.

• 80% of returns flow back into the system — to stakeholders, to the Du pool, to the recursive improvement layer

WRE — Windsurf Recursive Engine

WRE (governed by WSP 48: Recursive Self-Improvement Protocol) is the engine that makes Foundups self-accelerating.

012 input → WSP policy → WRE execution → outcome → telemetry → WSP update → WRE re-execution

The loop is closed. Every wave teaches the board. Every ride improves the sail trim. The rider does not need to re-issue commands for the system to improve — the system improves from its own execution history.

WRE is not RLHF. It is not HITL. It is not prompt engineering.

WRE is constitutional recursion: the framework that governs the system is itself the subject of recursive improvement, bounded by the WSP amendment process (WSP 81) and monitored by DAEMONs (WSP 91).

• 012 is the rider — sets the trajectory, encodes the style, defines the mission
• 012 is not the engine — does not approve each tack, does not authorize each gust response
• Policy is the sail — pre-tensioned, continuously trimmed by WRE
• The board finds the wave — DAEMONs discover work, agents execute, sentinels validate

At the Sovereign SmartDAO tier (F₅), the system operates as a fully self-sustaining economic and governance entity. 012's role shifts from operator to architect — shaping the constitutional layer that shapes everything else.

Why "Windsurf" and Not "Autopilot"

Autopilot implies a fixed destination and a locked course. The rider is absent.

Windsurf implies dynamic equilibrium — the rider is present in the system as encoded policy and memory (0102), but the board is reading the water in real time. The system is not executing a script. It is riding conditions toward a direction.

This is the difference between:

• A chatbot executing commands → autopilot
• 0102 operating as the digital twin of 012, running WSP-governed DAEs that recursively improve on every execution cycle → windsurf
