Confirmed:
For the first version, the game will use four fixed predefined characters.
This reduces early scope and makes testing easier.
The fixed characters should still demonstrate:
- Different starting stats.
- Different starting equipment.
- Different archetype lean.
- Classless growth potential.
- Shared body skeleton and equipment compatibility.
Confirmed:
The long-term direction is a generated starting party.
At the beginning of the game, the player should be given four randomly generated characters.
These characters may have:
- Random names.
- Random visual variants.
- Random base stats.
- Starting equipment influenced by base stats.
- Different archetype lean.
The player should then have the option to:
- Reroll characters.
- Allocate starting stats.
- Change starting equipment.
Current direction:
Starting equipment is influenced by weighted stat profiles.
Confirmed starting equipment rules:
- A character with high Strength receives a Strength-scaling weapon.
- If Vitality is meaningfully higher than Agility, the character receives heavy armor.
- If Vitality and Agility are close, within about 2 points, the character receives medium armor.
- If Agility is meaningfully higher than Vitality, the character receives light armor.
- Accessories, cloak, helmet, and gloves start empty.
Open questions:
- Are rerolls unlimited?
- Do rerolls cost anything?
- Is stat allocation point-based?
- If yes, how many allocation points does the player receive?
- Can allocation reduce stats below generated values?
- Does allocation affect starting equipment recommendations?
Open questions:
- Are the four characters persistent for the whole mission?
- Are they persistent across multiple missions?
- Can they die permanently?
- Can they be replaced?
- Can new characters be recruited?
- Is the party reset between runs?
