Getting Started

This mod reworks how minecarts move. Here is what to expect in your first session.

What Changed

  • Minecraft's experimental minecart improvements are always on, no game rule toggle needed.
  • A new rail family (copper rails) sets its own speed cap per-rail, up to 40 blocks per second.
  • The furnace minecart accepts any fuel and self-propels along its facing.
  • A fueled furnace minecart picks up minecarts behind it and pulls them along as a train.
  • Off-rail physics are softer: horizontal velocity survives short air gaps, and ice keeps carts sliding.

Early Game

  1. Mine copper. Craft your first Copper Rails (6 copper ingots around 1 stick yields 12 rails).
  2. Build a short straight track. Place a regular minecart on it and push to confirm the base rail speed.
  3. Build a furnace minecart. Right-click with any fuel (coal, charcoal, planks, blaze rods, a lava bucket, etc). It will light up and move forward along its facing direction.

Mid Game

  1. Replace stretches of your vanilla rail with copper rails for faster travel. The tier is set when you place the rail and degrades over time (see Copper Rails oxidation).
  2. Wax sections you want frozen at their current tier with 1 honeycomb + 8 copper rails (shapeless recipe, yields 8 waxed rails of the matching tier).
  3. Add chest or hopper minecarts behind your furnace minecart, directly touching its bounding box or within one rail segment behind it. They will attach into a Trains. The first chest/hopper trailer will refuel the furnace automatically when fuel gets low.

Late Game

  1. Build a fast mainline from unaffected copper rails. A full 1 locomotive + 7 trailer train tops out at 24 blocks per second (40 times 0.6) when everything aligns. Short curves and slopes will cost some speed.
  2. Add a powered rail (with redstone control) before destinations. Passing over a powered-on rail keeps the locomotive lit, passing over an unpowered one extinguishes it without draining the fuel, a cheap way to park a train.
  3. Craft a Dispenser Minecart (1 minecart + 1 dispenser in a crafting table). Fill with items, place on rails, and run it over a powered activator rail to fire items sideways.
