Stone Age
Note: TrueSurvival is a total conversion of Minecraft, which makes the game much more difficult to complete and an even harder challenge on hardcore! In this guide, I will NOT be playing on hardcore because I suck at this datapack 😔.
While we have just entered the Stone Age, we want to leave it and continue to the iron age as quickly as possible, as stone tools do not have much use other than allowing us to mine iron ore for raw iron!
First, use up your previous flint mattock to mine more stone to cook into hardened cobblestone. We will need 3 hardened stone and 5 cobblestone to craft a furnace!
Admiring the new work station!
Now to find some iron to smelt! Raw iron has different drop rates depending on the tool used. Mining iron ore with a stone pickaxe will yield raw iron 75% of the time, while using an iron mattock will yield raw iron 100% of the time. While you could tough it out and try to mine the 18 raw iron needed for an iron pickaxe using a stone pickaxe, I will be crafting an iron mattock for 8 raw iron, then go back to collect more iron later for an iron pickaxe.
Iron located!
Time to smelt!
At this point, you will likely realize that you receive MUCH less iron than you normally would, with a conversion of 1 raw iron -> 1 iron nugget. While it gets better in the future once we get a better furnace, for now we have to deal with the much lower yield rates of the base furnace. Using your new iron nuggets, craft an iron ingot.
Smelting glass into glass bottles!
We can now finally drink water without getting the thirst effect draining our thirst bar! Fill up the bottles with water, then throw them on top of a lit campfire! You should hear them be boiled into purified water!
