Kit 8.5 (2026-10-24)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Oct 07:16

WCCF 2010-11 (Rev D) on a PC - kit 8.5. Community-made tools for your own copy of the game: a launcher,
stand-ins for the cabinet's hardware and an on-screen panel, so the game's server, the projector and a player
cabinet (seat 1) run on one Windows PC - or play online on a shared server. The game is not included. Download
WCCF-2010-11-kit-8.5.zip below.

Updating

Close the game, open SETUP.exe and pick the new kit under UPDATE (your club, keys and settings stay); it sets up
the game folder again, and the English if you use it. From a kit without that (Kit 5.4 and older): unzip the new kit
over the old folder, then SETUP.exe - it also removes the old .bat files and ENGLISH.exe.

You need

Windows 10/11 (64-bit) · your own copy of the game, Rev D, as a folder of files · DirectX June 2010 runtime (setup
tells you if it is missing). Python is inside the kit.

Play

PLAY.exe opens your cabinet and the projector; online, SHOW PROJECTOR opens it when the server has the new relay.
Closing your cabinet ends your run; closing the projector leaves your cabinet playing. Online: SETTINGS > NEXT
START: ONLINE, type the server's address, then RESTART
NOW
(click it twice). The first online start asks you to sign in to wccf.online: PLAY shows a
short code - log in (or register) there and approve it. Or DREAM TEAM there: online with your PC's own club card
and any card, no account and nothing earned - in friendlies DREAM TEAM clubs only meet each other.

What's new

Added

  • Hosting needs no website. A server you host keeps its own accounts and cards: PLAY.exe server runs its card
bank (TCP 20060 - let it in too), with wccf.online's rules - 11 white cards to start, a card for each finished
match, the club card kept and checked after each match. Players sign in on the server's own page with a name and
a password. Before, ONLINE asked for a wccf.online sign-in on any server, and only the community server could
give cards. The host can change the rules (data\card_rules.json) and look after accounts (README, ONLINE).
  • The code behind the cards is in the kit: code\server\card_bank.py, and wccf.online's own
    (source\website\wccfgame.php).
  • The keeper for hosts: PLAY.exe keeper on starts your server again when Sega's server program crashes, freezes or
stops letting players in - the community server's keeper (code\server\keeper.ps1), only while your PC hosts.

Changed

  • Better cards come more often: 5% better than black (was 2.5%), plus 0.25% for every match since your last one,
and a card you already own does not come again while another of its kind is left. The same on wccf.online
    already (since 2026-10-23).
  • Each server tells your PC where to sign in, and your PC keeps one sign-in and one online club per server: your
wccf.online sign-in never goes to another server. A server from before this kit: wccf.online, as before.

What's new

Fixed

  • Online matches could fall back to the computer when old match sockets kept sending keepalives. The client now
retires sockets on close, keeps opponent addresses per socket generation, and refreshes only the current match
socket. The server no longer lets a historical socket's hello move or prolong a live data route.
  • The separate opponent wait is extended for online play, including cabinet restarts without SETUP. It remains
bounded (nominally 30 seconds); local play retains the original value. Startup, version and synchronization
guards remain in place. Both players need the updated kit: the first one to give up ends the connection for both.
  • The projector's fullscreen double-click checks both timing and pointer position. Separate quick clicks and
a click pair interrupted by a focus or fullscreen change no longer toggle it accidentally.

Added

  • A resizable projector window for a second monitor. The picture keeps its shape with black bars; F11 or a
double-click fills its monitor without a frame. Esc, F11 or another double-click restores the window. Seat 1
keeps playing while the projector is in front.
  • Timestamped socket, routing, error and traffic-gap diagnostics, plus the game's existing fallback reason and
progress state, so a lost match can be traced independently of the server ping meter.

What's new

Added

  • Online, every player's PC shows the projector again. The server runs a projector relay (TCP 20031, started by
PLAY.exe server; a server must let that port in too): it holds the server's one projector connection and passes
the big screen to each player's projector, and a player who joins mid-match gets that match's start first. The
projector starts muted, as on THIS PC. SETTINGS > VIEW > SHOW PROJECTOR (on unless switched off) chooses it for
this PC; a server from before the relay gives no projector, as before. A slow PC's projector skips frames to
catch up and never slows anyone else.

  • Online, a projector that loses the server comes back by itself. Before, it sat on "Error 3000 - WCCF CONTROL NOT
FOUND" for good. Now its link waits out a drop of up to about 2 minutes, as the cabinet's does; past that, the kit
closes that projector and opens a fresh one (after 10, then 30, then 60 seconds; three tries), which shows the
next phase. Your cabinet is never touched, and a projector whose window you closed stays closed.

  • Online, SETTINGS > OPEN / CLOSE PROJECTOR (beside RESTART NOW; click it twice): close the projector now, or open
a fresh one, also after you closed it or the automatic tries gave up. Your cabinet plays on. RESTART NOW after a
change to SHOW PROJECTOR starts everything again, so the projector comes or goes at once.

  • SETTINGS > VIEW > GRAPHICS, a page of video settings for the game itself (as an emulator has). PRESET sets the
rows at once: LOW (a slow PC or laptop), ORIGINAL (the game as the arcade), HIGH and ULTRA (a strong graphics card,
a 4K screen); CUSTOM lights up for any other mix. AT ONCE: TEXTURES GAME / 4x / 8x / 16x (sharper pitch lines at a
slant) and an FPS counter. NEXT START (RESTART NOW applies them; the projector on this PC at PLAY.exe's next start):
ANTI-ALIAS GAME / OFF / 2x / 4x / 8x (8x only where the graphics card can, else the next level down), SHADOWS
GAME / LOW, MOTION BLUR GAME / OFF; anti-alias OFF, shadows LOW and motion blur OFF help a slow PC. The hook changes
each only on the original code and says so in its log.

Changed

  • Closing the projector's window no longer stops the game, on THIS PC or online: seat 1 plays on, nothing else
stops and no report is sent. THIS PC's server no longer waits for the projector before a round, so a closed
projector never holds the next round up. Closing seat 1's window still ends the run on this PC, the projector
with it - online that is only your PC.
  • The seat's window is DPI aware: on a scaled screen (150%, a 4K one at 200%) Windows no longer stretches it, so the
    panel's text stays sharp.

Fixed

  • A cabinet restart waiting behind a stop could start a cabinet after the run had ended, without its server or
play mode. It now checks the run again after its wait and leaves a stopped or replaced run alone.
  • Online: a short internet drop in the middle of a match ended in "Error 3000 - WCCF CONTROL NOT FOUND", and the
game never came back. Three things gave up on a quiet link: Windows (after ~24 s), the game (30 s without word from
the server) and the server (~36 s without word from the PC). Now the link waits out a drop of up to about 75
seconds instead of being cut; a longer drop is still cut, as before (after ~2 minutes). Needs both halves: this
kit on your PC, and the same on the server.
  • English: the yellow lines at the bottom of the screen were still Japanese. INSERT CLUB CARD
(クラブチームカードを挿入してください) is new lettering made to match Sega's own lines below it; INSERT COIN(S) and
PRESS START BUTTON are Sega's own English lines, copied from the same picture of your copy as SETUP puts the English in.
  • English: the hexagon's white words on View Data (Kit 8.2) had a faint see-through rectangle round each word (at
most 4% dark, left over from making them); gone.
  • SETUP on a game that another copy of the kit made English (a new kit unzipped into a new folder, the old one
still holding Sega's originals) said "client_Release.exe is not Rev D", as if the game were wrong. It now says
what happened and what to do: update the old kit folder with UPDATE, or press JAPANESE there first, then set up
    in the new one.
  • English: a cup your club IS in said "Not available" (Sega's own European English for five lines of the entry
screen and the projector's schedule), so cups looked locked. They say Entered (出場確定), Requested (出場申請中) and
    Competing (出場中) now.

What's new

Added

  • SETTINGS > GAME TEXT has ITALIANO too (ENGLISH, ITALIANO, JAPANESE), done at the next start as SETUP.exe's GAME
LANGUAGE does - before, Italian was only in SETUP.exe. NOW's GAME TEXT line says Italian when the game is in
    Italian (it said English).

Fixed

  • English: the six team stats round the hexagon (OFFENCE, TACKLING, SPEED, POWER, CONTROL, DEFENCE - the white ones
on the menu's View Data and the gold ones) and the menu's button names under Manager License (OK and BACK, beside
KEY) were still Japanese. Their English lettering was made to match Sega's - an image tool drew it from Sega's
pictures, then it was measured against them: the same places, sizes and colours, nothing else in the pictures
changed. The kit's hook gives them to the game as it loads Sega's pictures, so the game's files do not change.
After UPDATE, say yes when SETUP offers to put the English in again.
  • English: TEAM TRAINING's PRESSING was called "Possession" - Sega's own European English for プレス, the training that
presses to win the ball back (its line under the menu said so). Possession is what CONTROL means on the hexagon.

@github-actions github-actions released this 16 Oct 05:00

What's new

Added

  • Your formation on your wccf.online profile: online and signed in, after each match the website keeps (the club card
save it already gets), the kit also sends the cards on your table and where each stands, so your profile shows the
formation you play on its FORMATION board picture - with the bench, each starter's rating for his spot and your
club's links. Only a table of cards your account owns is taken; an empty table is never sent, so your profile
    keeps the last one.

Fixed

  • English: the message after every session ("Ejecting your Club Card") broke "you" across two lines - the game wraps
a line that is wider than its box, even mid-word. It and 11 other card warnings that ran wider than their box are
written to fit now (the box taken as wide as Sega's own Japanese line); none has more rows than before. After
UPDATE, say yes when SETUP offers to put the English in again.

What's new

Added

  • DREAM TEAM: SETTINGS' PLAY ON has a third choice, DREAM TEAM (or PLAY.exe remote ADDRESS dream). It plays on the
server with your PC's own club card and any card from the CATALOGUE, without your wccf.online account: no cards are
earned and nothing goes to the website. In friendly rounds a DREAM TEAM club is paired only with other DREAM TEAM
clubs, so players with any card never meet players building their club from the 11 white cards there. League and
cup rounds can still pair DREAM TEAM and ONLINE players (the game pairs those by division place and bracket).
  • Positions on the FORMATION BOARD: point at a card (on the pitch, or in the CATALOGUE) and the pitch dims a little
and glows where he plays well, from his card's own 16 role ratings (pale yellow for a few points, deep orange for
a 10); each card on the pitch has a tag with his rating for the spot he stands in ("CB 10": the number green for 8
or more, yellow for 6-7, red below), and it follows a card you drag, so you can find the spot that suits him. The
lines are the game's own, read out of the game: FW from 25 m past halfway, MF down to 15 m inside your half (the
board's darker band), DF below, and the game's keeper box - so a tag turns from a midfield role to a defence role
exactly where the game's own colour does. Which role a spot means inside a line is the kit's reading (FW: ST/PP,
then SS by the MF line; MF: BT/OH, CH, then DH by the DF line; DF: WB/CB, CB/SB, SW/LIB), the same as on
wccf.online's squad builder; a spot reads the same as its mirror on the other wing.
  • Names and links on the FORMATION BOARD: each card has its player's name under it (on the pitch and on the bench),
and your club's links are drawn between the cards on the pitch as the game draws them - a thin white line from a
link of 151, a thick white line from 201, gold at 255. They are read from your club card (the CLUB CARD panel's
view), so a club that has not built a pair up yet shows no line for it, as in the game.

Changed

  • The roles have Sega's own names now, as the game keeps them (ST striker, PP post player, WG wing, SS shadow
striker, BT behind the top, OH offensive half, CH centre half, DH defensive half, SH side half, WB wing back,
SB side back, CB centre back, STP stopper, SW sweeper, LIB libero, GK goalkeeper); the CATALOGUE's pane shows the
full names. The guessed names before them (CF, TM, OMF, CMF, DMF, SMF, CVR) still work as search words; "sw" now
    finds sweepers (it found liberos).
  • Hosting a server: random pairing in a free round now pairs two clubs whose matching values are at most 6500 apart
    (was: any two). Every real club seen so far is within 4,050 of every other, so ONLINE players still meet each other;
a DREAM TEAM club reports the top value, 16383, so it meets only DREAM TEAM clubs.

Fixed

  • The FORMATION BOARD's "+ CARD" (and a new club laid out by the kit) put its two forwards inside the game's own MF
line, so the game played them as midfielders. The forwards now stand in the FW line, and the midfield at halfway.
  • Hosting a server: a player who switched from ONLINE to DREAM TEAM with RESTART NOW had the DREAM TEAM session's
first two reports sent to wccf.online as his account's: the server kept counting a seat for two minutes after it
was freed, even once the same seat was taken again without a sign-in. A seat given again now stops counting the
account that sat there at once (and a second account at that address is no longer "cannot be told" meanwhile).

What's new

Added

  • Online: a wccf.online sign-in, the way a TV signs in. Before joining a server, PLAY shows a short code (in its
window and in a small Windows box) and opens wccf.online in your browser; log in there - or register - and approve
the code, and the game carries on by itself. This PC stays signed in (data\account.json; never sent with SEND
LOGS). It is the first step of linking the website and online play: a wccf.online account to play online.
  • Hosting a server: the seat desk checks each PC's sign-in with the website and its log says who sits where. Sign-in
is optional until the host puts a file data\require_signin.txt on the server; then a PC that is not signed in is
told so, and kit 7 plays on its own PC instead and says why. If the website cannot be reached, signed-in PCs are
let in anyway. A signed-in kit 7 still joins servers that have not updated (their seat desk does not know sign-ins:
    it asks again without one).
  • Online, signed in, you play with your account's own club - a fresh start, separate from the club cards on your PC
(those keep playing on your PC). A new account gets 11 white cards (1 GK, 4 DF, 4 MF, 2 FW); the CATALOGUE then
lists only the cards your account owns, and the first time they are laid out on the table so the game's own Club
Make builds your club from them. The club card is kept in data\save\online\. YOUR CARDS, NEW CLUB CARD and CLEAR
BAD ENDINGS are off for the online club, and no card is shown after a match there yet.
  • Every finished online match earns a card. The server sees the match end (the game's own end-of-match message) and
tells wccf.online; the website draws the card - 2.5% better than black, otherwise 70% white and 30% black - and
adds it to your account (a card you already own counts as a copy). After the locker room the game shows it - NEW
CARD - and it is in your CATALOGUE at once. Only servers wccf.online knows give cards (hosting: a secret from the
website owner in data\server_name.txt and data\server_secret.txt).
  • Your online club card is kept on wccf.online: each save goes up after the match (never mid-match), and each online
start takes the website's latest - so your club is the same on any PC, and a copy edited on a PC is not taken. A new
online club starts on a blank card with an id of its own. If the website cannot be reached, you play with your PC's
copy, and it goes up after the next match.
  • Online play needs your wccf.online sign-in and your online club. Without them (not signed in, or the website cannot
give you your cards the first time), PLAY plays on your PC instead, with your own club cards, and says why - your
other club cards never go online.
  • When your online club's contract ends (after 100 matches, as on the arcade), put the card in again: the game moves
your manager to a new card and you make a new club on it. wccf.online keeps the new card from its first match, and
the old club is kept on your PC (data\save\online\...\transferred\) - the game will not play it again.
  • SETTINGS shows your wccf.online account (ACCOUNT, under NOW) with SIGN OUT: two clicks, done at the next start
(RESTART NOW or PLAY). The website then no longer accepts that sign-in, and the next online start asks for a new
    code.

Changed

  • Hosting a server: in a round where clubs are free (no league or cup match of their own), any two free players are
now paired with each other at random, whatever their clubs' strength - the game's own rule paired only close
    strengths and gave the rest computer clubs (MATCHING_PARA_FM1=20000 in the server's settings, written by SETUP;
the server takes it at its next start). The game still keeps two players apart for about 10 rounds after they met
at random, and the league and cups pair as before: to play a friend again, use ARRANGE FIXTURE in a free round.
  • The game's red notice "This cabinet is offline. Network features cannot be used." now says what is true: "Sega's
network is closed. No nationwide play or rankings." (in Italian too). The old words made players on a community
server think they were not connected. It shows the same on your own PC, so it does not name a server. New words
need the English (or Italian) put in again: after UPDATE, SETUP offers it.

Fixed

  • The buttons no longer stop working for the rest of a session. If the kit's I/O board stand-in paused for about 4
seconds (two of the three pauses seen began as it wrote a file; the cause is not certain), the game marked the
board broken and never read a button again until it was closed - a card session then ended badly. The kit now
switches that mark off as the game starts, drops the stand-in's late answers (after a shorter pause every press
stayed late until the game was closed, and later each pause made it later still), and the stand-in answers without
ever waiting for the disk. Checked in the real game: after a 6-second pause the buttons work at once.
  • In English (and Italian), the bar under the screen between matches now says "Please wait for the next match"
("Attendi la prossima partita") where it was Japanese. The kit's hook hands the game an English picture as it loads
Sega's, at Sega's size and with its reflection; no game file is changed for it (the English pictures that were added
to the game's archive stay off: with them the game gave club cards straight back). After UPDATE, say yes when SETUP
offers to put the English in again.
  • Online: two signed-in players in one house (one internet address) now each get their cards and keep their club
saves. The server could not tell them apart and sent nothing for either; kit 7 now tells the server which club card
it plays, and the server matches it with the card in each match. (A server must update too; an older one is asked
    again without the card.)
  • Building the kit's programs (source\build.ps1) in a folder whose path has a space in it.
  • Hosting a server: a match between two players no longer falls back to a CPU match when a player's router gives the
game a new port as the match starts. The relay took the new port for a stranger and held the seat for 30 seconds,
so the game gave up ("Network disconnected. Switching to CPU match."). The same address on a new port is now taken
at once; another address is still refused while the seat is in use.
  • Closing the game normally no longer sends its logs to the server as a run that went wrong. As the game ended, the
panel sometimes saw the server link go and wrote it as lost; now nothing is written once you have closed the
window. A link lost while you play is still written, and still sends the logs.

Kit 6 (2026-10-11)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 18:34

WCCF 2010-11 (Rev D) on a PC - kit 6. Community-made tools for your own copy of the game: a launcher,
stand-ins for the cabinet's hardware and an on-screen panel, so the game's server, the projector and a player
cabinet (seat 1) run on one Windows PC - or play online on a shared server. The game is not included. Download
WCCF-2010-11-kit-6.zip below.

Play

PLAY.exe (two windows: the projector and seat 1; online only seat 1 - no projector on players' PCs). Quit by
closing the game's window. Online: SETTINGS > NEXT START: ONLINE, type the server's address, then RESTART
NOW
(click it twice).

The zip's SHA-256: 2489cd1a753021aaf439c9708f46e4af631478acc854c1e68293e021906dc2ac

What's new

Changed

  • Online: no PC gets the projector any more. The first player to join used to run it as a second window; now every
PC runs only its own cabinet. The seat desk always answers PROJECTOR 0 (kit 5's PCs follow that too), and
PLAY.exe server sets the server's WAIT_PROJECTOR=0 - with 1 it would never start a round with no projector
connected. A projector box that joins by itself still works; it catches up at the next round. PLAY.exe local
    keeps its own projector.
  • A start compares the game's copy of the hook (wccfk.dll, in the game and in seat1) with the kit's own and sets
the game up once if they differ - a newer kit unzipped over this one by hand no longer starts the old hook.
  • Hosting a server: the server program now gets the players' messages only whole. Over the internet a message can
arrive in pieces, and Sega's code for putting pieces back together is broken - the most likely cause of the server
crash that cuts every player ("WCCF CONTROL NOT FOUND", Error 3000). The kit's hook (wccfk.dll) now holds the
pieces and hands the server each message only once all of it is there; bytes that cannot be a message are skipped,
and nobody is disconnected for them. WCCF_WHOLEMSG=0 turns it off. The crash was not reproduced on purpose, so this
is the likely cause removed, not a proven fix; the keeper's restart stays the safety net.
  • Simpler folders. The kit's Python is in code\ (was scripts\); every program, the panel included, is in
programs\ (was bin\ and overlay\); the panel's picture is in art\; the English tables are in languages\english\ (one folder per language); the catalogue and card pictures SETUP
makes from your game are in data\cache\. Updating from an older kit and pressing set up moves your catalogue and
card pictures over (no waiting for them to be made again) and removes the old kit's leftover files and folders -
anything of yours in those folders stays. Inside code\, the kit's Python is in plain folders with plain names:
    cards\, hardware\, online\, server\, helpers\ (_keys_seat1.py is now hardware\keyboard.py, and so on).
  • Updating from an older kit by unzipping it by hand (or saying no to "set up now?") is fine: the first PLAY sets
the game up for the new helper by itself, as SETUP would, instead of starting the old one Windows Defender deletes.
  • The kit's helper no longer gets deleted by antivirus. It used to sit beside the game pretending to be a Windows
file (winmm.dll), which is how some malware sneaks in - so Windows Defender flagged and deleted it, and the game
would not start. Now the helper has its own honest name (wccfk.dll) and SETUP simply points the game at it (a
tiny, exact change it can undo). Turning English on or off keeps it. Nothing else about your game is changed.
  • Fewer things that look suspicious to antivirus: the panel no longer writes screenshots of the game to disk
(wccfpanel_frame.bmp, wccfpanel_atlas.bmp), the scene helper no longer runs tasklist, and SETUP now also
removes the two old files Windows Defender flagged (overlay\inject.exe, bin\logowin.exe) when you unzip a new
    kit by hand.

Added

  • ITALIANO in SETUP.exe's GAME LANGUAGE (and english.py on it): the game in Italian. Each line comes from this kit's
Italian (languages\italian\screen_text.tsv, 4,477 lines), else Sega's own Italian of the older European WCCF
(languages\italian\sega_rstring.tsv, 2,705 lines with the same Japanese), else the kit's English - never
Japanese. The game's font has no accented letters, so the Italian writes them with an apostrophe (perche',
citta'). Player and CPU team names are the English ones; money stays in dollars. The SETTINGS panel still offers
    only ENGLISH and JAPANESE.

  • Every crash of the game, the server or a match engine leaves two memory snapshots in data\dumps (debugger.py):
a lean one (every thread's stack and the memory it points to - about 1 MB, 90 KB zipped) and a full one (also the
program's globals - 3.5 MB for the server, 36 MB for a cabinet), the newest 5 of each. The report printed at a
crash says where; the snapshot holds what is needed to find why. Tested: source\test_crash_dump.py crashes a
program on purpose under the real launcher.

  • The cabinet's link to the server is watched all the time (wccfpanel.dll): data\logs\server_link.txt gets a dated
line when it comes up and when it drops - before, nothing recorded the player's side of an Error 3000.

  • Online, a run that ended badly (a crash, or the server link lost) sends this PC's logs to that server's log inbox by
itself, with the newest lean snapshots and a report.txt saying why - what SEND LOGS sends: never the club card,
names on the PC blanked (in a snapshot, with as many underscores, so it still opens). A server out of reach: kept
as data\report.pending and sent at the next join. auto_logs=0 in data\panel.txt turns it off. Tested on a test
server: a killed seat (sent at once), a dropped server (kept, then sent at the next join).

Fixed

  • A stop no longer loses the end of a cabinet's debug log (data\logs\_dbg_client_seat1.txt): the launcher kept it
in memory and a stop ends the launcher at once - after an Error 3000 the file was empty. It is now written
whenever the game is not waiting on it, so SEND LOGS carries the cabinet's side too.
  • English: the players' full names (the card name, e.g. Mahamadou DIARRA) were still in katakana; they now use
Sega's own Latin spelling, accents dropped, like the short names. The second katakana full name stays: the game
looks player partnerships up by it (partnership.bin).
  • English: the last 22 Japanese lines a player can meet - the win/loss/draw marks on the manager's career record
(W, L, D), the weekdays Monday to Saturday, and 12 supporter-group words (Heroes, Stars, Samurai, Tigers, ...).
7,200 lines are now in English; only the debug menus stay Japanese.
  • english.py check names the screen lines still in Japanese, so a gap shows without a survey.
  • Not in this kit yet: the six team stats around the hexagon and OK / BACK redrawn in English (and Italian). The
redrawing works, but with the redrawn pictures in the game's archive the game gave every club card straight back
instead of reading it - so it is switched off, and those pictures stay Japanese. The code is kept for a fix
(WCCF_PICTURES=1 turns it on to test one).
  • The game no longer refuses to start just because the card CATALOGUE has not been built. The catalogue is only the
panel's card browser; now the game starts and only the catalogue is empty (SETUP rebuilds it).
  • The card-overwrite switch (SW1) no longer has a key by default. On Sega's card-recovery screen SW1 means "write
the backup over your Club Card", and it used to be the 8 key - one stray press could roll your card back. SW1
and SW2 now have no key unless you set one in KEYS.
  • Closing the game during a manager transfer now warns you too. When your contract ends and the game is making your
new club, closing the window used to close with no warning and cost that new club a bad ending - the warning only
watched your old card. Now it (and the SETTINGS > RESTART NOW gate) watch both cards.
  • The game no longer fails to start because a log file is open. If something is holding a file in the logs folder
(an antivirus, or you viewing a log), the kit sets that folder aside and starts anyway, instead of failing every
time until the file is released. (source\test_rotate_logs.py.)
  • Online: your live match can no longer be hijacked. The match relay now treats a seat as belonging to the address
that holds it, so a stranger sending "I am seat n" from somewhere else is ignored while you are playing. Before,
anyone could redirect another player's match to themselves and drop them to a CPU game. (source\test_relay.py.)
  • Online: a brief network blip no longer loses your seat. The kit now reconnects to the server's seat desk and
re-claims the same seat; before, one missed reply ended the hold for good and the server freed your seat under
    the running game. (source\test_seat_lease.py.)
  • Online: two PCs can no longer land on the same seat. If the server's seat desk was slow or gave an odd answer,
the kit used to start on seat 1 anyway - so a second PC could take seat 1 and one of them never got into the game.
Now it only plays "as before" when a server genuinely has no seat desk; otherwise it stops with a clear message
    and offers local play. (source\test_take_seat.py.)
  • A long game is no longer force-closed. Before, any session was killed after 12 hours even in the middle of a
match, which costs your club card a ba...

What's new

Fixed

  • A plain PLAY.exe start went online no more: Kit 5.5 played on this PC (its own server and projector) even with
SETTINGS > NEXT START: ONLINE. play.py used the name PANEL for both data\panel.txt and overlay\wccfpanel.dll, so
it read the dll as the SETTINGS file - ONLINE, the club card choice, the English change and the card fix were all
not seen. check.ps1 now checks it.

What's new

Added

  • Free play: the game's own FREE PLAY is switched on in seat 1, so no coin is needed anywhere - including the
two-choice screen after a cup match that PRESS / SHOOT decide, where START's coin did not help. The key driver
still puts a coin in on START, in case the panel is not loaded.
  • When a contract ends, the game's own manager transfer works: put the card in again after the last match, and the
card reader stand-in puts a blank new card beside it, as if two cards were stacked on the arcade's reader. The game
moves the manager (name, salary, level, record, titles, division) to the new card and you make a new club in Club
Make. At the next start the new club is in the slot and the old card goes to YOUR CARDS as "CLUB - transferred"
(the game will not play it again: no PLAY THIS CLUB for it). The CLUB CARD panel says when a contract has ended.
  • SETUP.exe is a window: the game folder (BROWSE, or drag it onto the window or onto SETUP.exe) with SET UP /
REPAIR and UNDO SETUP; GAME LANGUAGE, ENGLISH or JAPANESE (what ENGLISH.exe did); and UPDATE, the kit's releases
and test builds on GitHub. UPDATE downloads the one you pick and copies it over the kit folder - data\ (club
cards, keys, settings, logs) is never written, nothing is copied while the game runs - removes the files the old
kit had and the new one does not, then offers setup again (and the English, if it is on). The scripts' output shows
in the window. Its words are English, or Italian or Japanese when Windows is.
  • PLAY.exe says when a newer kit is out, and SETUP.exe marks it "(newer)" and says so: a release only, never a test
build. PLAY asks GitHub while the game starts and waits at most 3 s more for the answer.
  • A player card after each match, as the cabinet's dispenser gave one (a test): when a match ends with its
locker-room save, a window shows a card drawn from the catalogue - 2.5 % a card better than white and black
(RARE, LEGEND, ALL TIME LEGEND), else 70 % white (REGULAR) and 30 % black (SPECIAL). Only shown: nothing is added
to the club card. A click on it shuts it; it shuts itself after 20 s.
  • CATALOGUE: the search takes several words, and a card must match each one: a name, club, country or season
(milan 2004), a line (fw) or a role (dmf: cards rated 8 or more in it). brazil fw, italy cb.
  • CATALOGUE: the card's pane lists the three roles the card suits best, out of 10 (ROLES DMF 10 CMF 7 CVR 5):
the game's own numbers (the player record's first 16 hidden values); the role names are inferred from the players
    rated 10 in each.
  • FORMATION BOARD: resting the mouse on a card on the table (the big card) also shows its name, line, total and roles.
  • SETTINGS > LOGS: SEND LOGS (click twice) sends this game's logs to the server you play on and shows a short code
to post in Discord with what went wrong. Never the club card; the Windows user name and PC name are taken out.
  • The kit's version (KIT 5.5) at the top right of the game, under the ping meter when online -
version.txt in the kit (kit-5.5), written when the kit ZIP is made.
  • Logs: older runs are no longer deleted. data\logs\previous is still the run before; the runs before it are
zipped into data\logs\archive (about the last 200 MB, the oldest go first).
  • The kit ZIP holds version.txt (which kit it is) and files.txt (every file it ships), for UPDATE.
  • Server: a box that only shows the projector (a stream box) can be kept out of the game until a player is in it -
put its address in data\hold_projector.txt. The seat desk then holds that address off TCP 20002 with a Windows
firewall rule and lifts it as soon as a player joins; "HOLD" tells the box whether it is held. On the shared server,
runs where the stream box was the first in let almost no players in afterwards (6 runs); runs a player joined first
let everyone in (3 runs). Other servers: no file, nothing changes.
  • Server: the log inbox (scripts\_log_inbox.py, TCP 20050) keeps those logs in data\player_logs: at most 8 MB
an upload, 6 an hour from one address, 1 GB in all (the oldest go). A server must now let in TCP 20050 too.

Changed

  • bin\logowin.exe is gone: The kit's stand-in for Sega's logo window - a program without a window that waited for
the server to end - was what a player's Windows Defender flagged. The kit's winmm.dll now answers the server's
start of logowin itself: the message still goes to logowin_messages.txt in the game folder, and nothing runs.
SETUP puts Sega's logowin.exe back (kept as logowin_sega.exe); an update removes bin\logowin.exe.
  • The panel is loaded by the game itself: the kit's winmm.dll, which the game already loads, loads wccfpanel.dll
3 s after the window is up, for seat 1 and the projector. overlay\inject.exe, which wrote it into the running game
from outside (VirtualAllocEx + CreateRemoteThread, a method antivirus programs watch for), is gone; an update
    removes it.
  • The formation board shows a card big after the mouse rests on it 3 s (was 8 s).
  • The BACK button is gone: it pressed nothing, and in the game the blue KEEPER button goes back.
  • The COIN button is gone: play is free (above). KEYS still lists COIN, for a key or a real coin switch.

Removed

  • ENGLISH.exe: SETUP.exe's GAME LANGUAGE does the same. SETUP.exe removes it, and the .bat files of kits before 5.4.

Fixed

  • The key driver could end when its input file stayed busy (an antivirus scan, for one): every key and controller
button dead, the last one held, the game going on by itself. A possible cause of the freeze reported in team
training and the locker room (not confirmed). It now tries again on its next round; if it ever stops anyway,
    data\logs\keys_crash.txt says why.
  • On a PC that had been on for more than 24.8 days without a restart, the card dispenser fix ("You are owed N
Player Card(s)" kept at 0) never ran, nor did the player card after a match: their once-a-second / every-2-s
timers started from 0 and never came round. They now count from the moment they start.
  • Server (seat desk): after a server restart, a game that rejoined by itself kept its old seat while the desk thought
that seat was free, and gave it to the next player - who was never let in (seen on the shared server: 4 tries in 12
minutes). The desk now reads who is in the game and never gives a seat, or the projector, that another PC is
using; the same PC can take its seat back.
