First beta of the GenesisBlockDB engine — local-first hybrid semantic-graph + vector database in a single Rust core (npm native addon + Axum REST server).
Highlights
- WAL compaction —
WalMsg::Checkpointtruncates the WAL through the writer thread and compacts to live state insave_state(), removing the ~20 GB-@-1M-nodes unbounded-growth blocker. Heavier / long-running ingest is no longer disk-bound. - Reproducible builds —
Cargo.lockis now tracked (it was being swallowed by a broad**/*.lockignore). - Version manifest — new root
modules.jsonanchors the 6 independently-versioned surfaces (npm addon, Python/Go SDKs, MCP, dashboard, Obsidian plugin) to the engine on-diskschemaVersion = 1.
Maturity
Developer-preview / local-first beta. Suitable for small–medium workloads; the on-disk format may still change before 1.0. Engine is an advanced prototype with full correctness coverage (MARK XIV complete).
Verification
cargo test: 36 binaries · 137 tests · 0 failed (incl.wal_compaction_tests)- CI "Scientific Performance Audit": pass

- Multi-platform
