v1.1.3 — Dynamix Artwork Archive

Maintenance release of the Dynamix artwork archive. The archived files are the same as in v1.1.2. The github-pages environment now accepts deployments only from tags from v1.1.2 on, and most of the remaining minor findings of the v1.1.2 reviews are fixed.

Deployment

• Environment rule: the github-pages environment accepts deployments only from tags from v1.1.2 on (owner decision of 2026-10-13, recorded in Gate 5 of the release document). A run takes the Pages workflow from its tag's commit, and v1.1.2 is the first tag whose workflow has every current check (the Release lookup, the attempt record with the Re-run check job, and the check of the tag on GitHub), so a run on v1.1.1 or an older tag is refused at the environment. Before this release, a re-run of the deploy job alone of a v1.1.1 run could still deploy v1.1.1 again.
• Re-run check: the job that fails a re-run without the approval job now runs only if the run was not cancelled, so cancelling such a re-run leaves it cancelled without its error.
• Unchanged: publishing a Release still deploys its tag's commit after the full test workflow passes on it, and the approval and build jobs still look up the tag's Release and read the tag from GitHub. Pushes, pull requests and schedules never deploy.

Checks

• Release text: the tests now pin the date of every release in both READMEs, read stale wording through HTML tags, links, strikethrough and zero-width characters, and read every comment of the Pages workflow. A 301 answer to the Release lookup is pinned as refused.
• Documentation wording rules: they have their own module, tests/test_docs_wording.py, and more samples pin their details. Two attempts to allow an accurate English list of conditions ending in the unset-variable wording were reverted, since they let hold statements through; such a list is a known false positive that the tests ask to rephrase.
• Tests: the release-text and re-run tests have their own modules.

Known gaps

• From v1.0.0: the access gaps recorded at v1.0.0 remain, since no source was refetched.
• Live access needed: two adapter cases cannot be settled without it.
  • A Google Play gallery layout.
  • The Bilibili seed with no params.mid. Its v1.0.0 read was blocked by a challenge. Until its account ID is recorded, any picture read from it is held for review.
• Documentation checks: some sentences that the wording rules cannot tell apart from hold statements are refused or allowed by their shape alone; the validation report lists them. Some paraphrases of retired wording are not caught either.
• Moved tags: a tag moved on GitHub after the build job's check is not seen; the run then deploys the commit that every check passed. Only repository admins can move v* tags.

Maintenance release of the Dynamix artwork archive. The archived files are the same as in v1.1.1. This release closes the low-severity findings of the v1.1.1 pre-release review: a re-run of part of the Pages workflow can no longer deploy, a run fails when its tag names another commit on GitHub at the approval or build job's check, and the documentation checks are pinned by samples.

Deployment

• Re-runs: the approval job now records the run's attempt next to the commit it approved, and the deploy job runs only when that record is from the current attempt. A re-run of the deploy job alone, or of any jobs without the approval job, deploys nothing, and it fails in a new last job, "Re-run check", with an error that says so. Re-run the whole run ("Re-run all jobs") instead. No permission was added.
• Moved tags: actions/checkout fetches the tag at the run's commit, so the checkout alone cannot show a tag that was moved after the run started. The approval and build jobs now also read the tag from GitHub with one git ls-remote, without credentials and limited to 60 seconds, and fail closed when it names another commit, is missing or cannot be read. A tag moved after the build job's check is not seen; the run then deploys the commit that every check passed.
• Runs on v1.1.1: a run takes the Pages workflow from its tag's commit. The github-pages environment still accepts v1.1.1, whose workflow looks the Release up but has neither of the two checks above, so re-run a run on v1.1.1 whole too. Runs on tags before v1.1.1 stay refused at the environment.
• Unchanged: publishing a Release still deploys its tag's commit after the full test workflow passes on it, and the approval job and the build job each still look up the tag's Release. Pushes, pull requests and schedules never deploy.

Checks

• Documentation wording rules: every alternative of the release, count and attribution wording rules in the documentation tests is now pinned by a sample or removed as equivalent, except four fillers whose deletion changes nothing. The rules also read code spans by CommonMark's backtick rule, see a date that is bold or written next to Chinese text, and take a condition listed with 、 as one condition only where it is one.
• Tests: the release gate tests and the release state tests have their own modules. Further tests pin the attempt record, the tag check against GitHub and the README sentences about both.

Known gaps

• From v1.0.0: the access gaps recorded at v1.0.0 remain, since no source was refetched.
• Live access needed: two adapter cases cannot be settled without it.
  • A Google Play gallery layout.

Deployment

• Release check: every run now checks that its tag has a published GitHub Release that is not a prerelease. The approval job, and again the build job, each make one read-only request to the GitHub API for it. This applies to a release run, to a dispatch and to a re-run. The run is refused on any other answer: no Release, a draft, a prerelease, a Release of another tag, an error or an unreadable answer.
  • A re-run keeps the event of the run it repeats, so a release run that is re-run after its Release became a draft or a prerelease, or was deleted, is refused. A re-run of the deploy job alone repeats no Release lookup, so re-run the whole run.
  • A run takes the workflow from its tag's commit. A run on a tag before v1.1.1 would use that tag's own workflow, which does not make this check; the github-pages environment refuses its deployment (see below).
• Tag form: a vX.Y.Z tag has three numbers without leading zeros. v1.10.0 is accepted; v1.02.0 and v01.1.0 are refused.
• Prerelease flag: the deploy job's own condition now also refuses a release event without a prerelease flag, as the approval and build jobs already did.
• Approved commit: the deploy job runs only for the commit that the approval job recorded.
• Tag ruleset and environment: a repository ruleset, "Release tags v*", lets only repository admins create, move or delete v* tags. The github-pages environment now accepts deployments only from tags from v1.1.1 on, and no longer from main. A run takes the Pages workflow from its tag's commit, so the two keep anyone but an admin from deploying through the github-pages environment with a workflow of their own.
• Unchanged: publishing a Release still deploys its tag's commit after the full test workflow passes on it. Pushes, pull requests and schedules never deploy.

Fetchers and checks

• Catalog schema (review finding DX2-07). All committed data passes these rules.
  • An accepted candidate (downloaded or duplicate_bytes) must carry game evidence.
  • apple_store, google_play, taptap_app and page_links seeds must give identity_quotes, since their game evidence comes from them.
  • The rule that a credit's evidence names a member of the matching credit list applies to family manifest records too.
  • Every credit entry in the catalog needs a URL or a quote.
• Page links: "Also linked from" notes are compared whole, so a page now gets its own note even when an already noted page's URL extends its URL (https://x/a beside https://x/a.html).
• Wiki captions: after the bare game name and a comma, an occasion of a listed game ("Artwork in Dynamix, Lanota Collaboration") now records that game, as the dash form already did. Other text after the comma, such as a credit, is left out of the name as before. No committed caption changes classification.
• Tests: further tests pin the deployment guard, the documentation wording rules, the caption rules and the seed checks.

v1.1.0 — Dynamix Artwork Archive

Maintenance release of the Dynamix artwork archive. The archived files are the same as in v1.0.0. This release changes how the site is deployed, hardens the fetchers and the catalog checks, and adds a pinned code-quality toolchain. It also fixes the findings of an independent code review.

Archive contents

• Originals: every original file is byte-identical to v1.0.0: the same 3,773 unique files from 7,138 source records. The catalog and the source manifests are unchanged.
• Fetchers: none was run for this release. The fetcher and classification changes below apply to future runs.
• Coverage report: data/coverage.json dropped one list, mismatches.duplicate_bytes_other_source, which was always empty, and its own size figures shrank by 40 bytes. The build now refuses the case that list would have held (see below).
• No new download is attached. dynamix-artwork-archive-v1.0.0.zip still holds every original file. Its data/coverage.json is the v1.0.0 version.

Deployment

• What deploys: only a vX.Y.Z tag whose commit is on main.
  • Publishing a GitHub Release for such a tag, not a prerelease, deploys it.
  • A manual dispatch on such a tag also deploys its commit, without checking for a Release. Use it only to redeploy a released tag.
• Retired: the approval variable RELEASE_APPROVED_SHA and the release hold.
• Refused before anything is built:
  • a branch;
  • a tag of another form, such as v1.1 or v1.1.0-rc1;
  • a prerelease;
  • a tag whose commit is not on main.
• Checks: the tag check runs in the C locale. The full test workflow, lint included, reruns on the tagged commit before the site is staged.

Website

• CSS fix: an invalid CSS declaration that browsers ignored was removed from src/slideshow.css. Nothing looks different.
• Lint comments: comments were added where ESLint misreads valid var() expressions.

Fetchers and checks

• Network client:
  • The connected-address (DNS rebinding) check now has tests for https as well as http.
  • Reserved and site-local IPv6 addresses are refused.
  • A test covers every class of non-public address.
• Pixel identity: every frame is compared, along with the EXIF orientation and the ICC profile, not only the first frame.
• Incomplete reads: an incomplete or unreadable listing no longer drops earlier candidates (excluded, pending, failed or blocked) or marks archived records as removed upstream. This covers:
  • a repeated empty Wayback CDX answer;
  • unparseable TapTap or iTunes entries;
  • an unread SoundCloud track list or X timeline;
  • a failed page read.
• 401/403 fallback: a 401 or 403 on a derived download URL now falls back to the URLs listed on the page, as a 404 already did.
• Held posts:
  • Bilibili and ArtStation posts whose account is not established are held for review.
  • Bilibili captcha pages and HTTP 412 are recorded as challenges.
• Page links:
  • A link with a literal space no longer aborts its source.
  • Links resolve against the document base.
  • srcset is parsed by the HTML rules.
  • A file linked from two seed pages is held while either page is unread.
• Wiki classification:
  • Other games: a caption naming artwork for another game, or for that game's event or anniversary, adds that game as an association. This applies only to the seven reviewed games: RAVON, Arcaea, Lanota, Cytus, Cytus II, Phigros and Rotaeno.
  • Unlisted names: any other name records no association and gets a note for a curator to review it. So does a name of a Dynamix event or anniversary. A BMS release event such as PABAT still marks an external release.
  • Promotional review: an archivist's promotional review is no longer overridden by list evidence.
• Catalog checks:
  • A duplicate_bytes candidate must point at its own source's record.
  • Song IDs must equal the deterministic assignment.
  • Dates and timestamps accept only ASCII digits.
  • Credit evidence must agree with the role lists.

Code quality

• Pinned tools:
  • ruff for lint and format, with line length 120;
  • mypy for scripts/lib;
  • ESLint, check-only, for the JavaScript and CSS files in src/, excluding vendored code and the slideshow page's inline script;
  • actionlint and pre-commit whitespace hooks.
• CI: a lint job runs every hook on every file. It excludes generated files, data/, assets/, fixtures, vendored code and byte-pinned files.
• Coverage: coverage.py measures scripts/ in CI. Coverage went from 90.5% to 92.5%, and the run fails below 92%.
• Lint and type findings: ruff went from 106 to 0 (112 after formatting), and mypy from 15 to 0.
• Formatting: a one-time, mechanical reformat of the Python code. Its commit is listed in .git-blame-ignore-revs.

Independent review

• Scope: an independent line-level review covered:
  • wiki classification and parsing;
  • the catalog schema;
  • the platform adapters;
  • the v1.0.0 release commit and its documentation tests;
  • a sweep, with mutation probes, of the network client, the path and manifest helpers, the wiki acquisition code, the primary-source runner and the archive page.
• Verification: a separate verifier checked each finding.
• Findings: the first round raised 51 findings. The verifiers confirmed 10 as major and 37 as minor.
• Major fixes: every confirmed major finding was fixed with a regression test that fails without the fix. Each fix was then verified again by another reviewer.
• Later rounds: these fixed most of the minor findings and applied the owner decisions above. The validation report lists what is still open.

First release of the Dynamix artwork archive: a searchable gallery and a slideshow of public artwork from the original Dynamix by C4Cat, with a provenance record for every file.

What is in the archive

• 3,773 unique files by SHA-256 (1.34 GB), from 7,138 source records across 104 sources:
  • two English wikis (Miraheze and Fandom), cross-checked against Japanese wiki song lists;
  • credited illustrators' and composers' own posts (X, pixiv, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Bilibili, ArtStation, a portfolio site);
  • official store pages and social channels;
  • Wayback Machine captures, press articles and a press screenshot gallery.
• Artwork: 632 song art, 712 character, 566 background, 318 part, 160 promotional and 14 pack cover files.
• Kept separately from artwork: 223 gameplay screenshots, 58 store screenshots and 1,089 reference files.
• Songs: 537 songs have positive original-game evidence.
  • 531 of them have confirmed song art; 6 have only an inferred match.
  • 18 have an artist or official original, and 54 have art with a long edge of at least 1920 px. The other 477 have only lower-resolution copies.
• Original bytes are kept as downloaded. Nothing is upscaled, cropped or recompressed; only the grid previews are derived WebP files.
• Provenance: every record keeps its source page, download URL, retrieval time, hashes, dimensions, credits with evidence and mapping status. Blocked, failed, excluded and pending candidates stay listed (10,183 candidates in total).

Downloads

• dynamix-artwork-archive-v1.0.0.zip (1.35 GB) contains:
  • every original once, at its catalog path, including the files the website links to the repository;
  • data/: the catalog, coverage, source manifests and discovery snapshots;
  • the public documentation, LICENSE, NOTICE, licenses/ and SHA256SUMS.
• dynamix-artwork-archive-v1.0.0.zip.sha256 holds the zip's SHA-256.
• The website serves the 2,403 artwork originals directly. The 1,370 screenshots and reference files are linked to the repository, to stay within the GitHub Pages size limit.

Known gaps

• 11 sources could not be enumerated completely: login or challenge pages, deleted posts, and an official site that no longer resolves. No universal completeness is claimed.
• Most song art is a wiki copy below 1920 px, and 256 songs have no known illustrator.
