First public preview

PlrForge is a local-first Terraria character editor for macOS and Windows. Version 0.2.0 supports verified Terraria desktop player formats through v326 (Terraria 1.4.5.8) and fails closed on unknown save formats.

Highlights

  • Edit character identity, appearance, difficulty, health, mana, permanent upgrades, buffs, spawn points, and Journey Mode powers and research.
  • Manage the hotbar, backpack, coins, ammo, equipment loadouts, dyes, tools, pets, mounts, banks, safe, Defender's Forge, and Void Vault.
  • Browse the complete searchable item catalog with locally extracted Terraria icons and metadata.
  • Find compatible item modifiers with category and quality filters, exact effect summaries, and live stat previews calculated by the installed Terraria runtime.
  • Save through guarded validation with automatic timestamped backups, post-write verification, restore tools, undo, and redo.
  • See the installed PlrForge version in the header and check GitHub Releases for newer public builds.

Downloads

  • macOS: Download the universal .dmg for Apple silicon or Intel Macs.
  • Windows 10/11: Download the .exe installer or the .msi package for x64 systems.
  • SHA256SUMS.txt contains a SHA-256 checksum for every installer and bundle.

Preview signing notice

These preview packages are not yet distributed with production signing identities. The macOS application is ad-hoc signed but not Apple-notarized, and the Windows installers are not code-signed. Your operating system may show an unfamiliar-developer or SmartScreen warning. Do not bypass a warning unless the file came from this GitHub release and its checksum matches SHA256SUMS.txt.

Close Terraria before editing a character. Keep the original .plr, Terraria's .bak, and PlrForge's .plrforge-backups copies until the edited character has been reopened successfully in both PlrForge and Terraria.

Review the attached COMPATIBILITY.md and RECOVERY.md before editing an important character.
