PUKEY Mod Manager 0.4.0

The central mod manager now supports community UE4SS Lua and native DLL mods while retaining Design C.

New

  • Reset and help: restore individual settings/keybindings to their defaults, then choose Save settings. Hover, focus or click an info icon for explanations, including FreeCam's camera modes.
  • Community mods: Add mod accepts public GitHub repositories/releases, HTTPS ZIP links and local ZIP files. Inspect and select packages, then install them from their own tabs. Existing layouts work without a manifest; optional pukey-mod.json enables typed Lua/JSON/INI configuration.
  • Readable mod tabs: fixed widths, horizontal mouse-wheel/trackpad scrolling and visible Enabled/Disabled/Not installed status, with separate update state.
  • Live logs: a separate read-only window for UE4SS/game logs with filtering, pause, copy and folder access.
  • Developer support: manifest and authoring guide, synthetic Lua/native templates and python -m manager.validate_mod.

Sources retain independent caches and ownership. Configuration, media and unknown files are preserved, including personal-file history after removal. Updates are explicit; mod code and package installers are never run by the manager.

Install

Extract the complete Windows ZIP or Linux x86-64 tar.gz. Run PUKEY-Mod-Manager.exe or PUKEY-Mod-Manager, keeping _internal beside it. No separate Python, Rust, Git or FModel installation is required. See the manager guide.

Version 0.4 upgrades installation ownership to schema 2 on the next successful modification; older managers cannot manage those records. Keep using 0.4 or newer afterward.

The game-derived interface still reads artwork only from a supported installed demo; no original game images are bundled. Pak mods, automatic dependency installation and compiling native mods are outside this release. A package passing validation does not guarantee game or UE4SS ABI compatibility. Gameplay under Proton remains unverified. This is a prerelease.

Validation includes 186 local tests (two privilege-dependent skips), independent code/UI reviews and Windows/Linux CI builds with packaged startup checks.

Design C brings the game's dialogue style to the central mod manager: mint mod selection, smoky settings sheets, separate editable keybindings, and persistent image/video actions.

The manager now reads its seven interface images from your selected game installation. No original game artwork is included in this release. Extraction is read-only, verified, and cached locally. Without a supported installed game, the manager uses a plain interface. Only the currently verified demo archives support artwork extraction; future game updates may require a manager update.

Install

  • Windows: download the ZIP, extract the entire folder, and run PUKEY-Mod-Manager.exe.
  • Linux x86-64: extract the tar.gz and run PUKEY-Mod-Manager (use chmod +x PUKEY-Mod-Manager if necessary).
  • Keep _internal beside the executable. No separate Python, Rust, FModel or Git installation is required.
  • Select your game folder, install UE4SS if needed, then install/configure the mods you want. The catalogue and mods are fetched from this repository.

See the manager guide for settings, media replacement, updates, removal, and Proton launch options.

Windows and Linux bundles pass native/Python tests and packaged startup in CI. The Windows theme was additionally verified against the installed demo without changing game files. Gameplay under Proton remains unverified. This is a prerelease.

The central mod manager now has a clearer native desktop interface:

  • Charcoal mod library, warm amber selection, explicit installation status, and state-dependent actions.
  • Separate Settings and Keybindings views with one validated save operation.
  • Side-by-side image adjustments and transparency preview, with accessible Preview, Restore, and Apply actions.
  • A focused first-run screen, visible keyboard focus, and clearer input controls.

Download the Windows ZIP or Linux x86-64 tar.gz and extract the entire folder. Run PUKEY-Mod-Manager.exe on Windows or PUKEY-Mod-Manager on Linux; keep _internal beside it. No separate Python installation is needed. On Linux, run chmod +x PUKEY-Mod-Manager if necessary.

The app downloads the mod catalogue from GitHub and preserves personal settings/media during updates. See the installation guide.

Validation includes 64 unittest cases, Windows/Linux builds, packaged offline startup including SVG resources, and desktop layout checks at 1120 × 800 and 1024 × 768. Platform-specific test skips apply. The downloaded Windows package was also start-tested on the maintainer machine. Actual game/mod behavior under Proton remains unverified.
