Program Status

Gaurav Gosain edited this page Oct 7, 2026 · 1 revision

Let any program in a pane report what it does with one escape sequence, OSC 7501, and see it in the rail and the Inbox.

Any program in a pane can say what it does: a build, a deploy script or a coding agent. The program writes one escape sequence, the Program Status Protocol (OSC 7501). TUIOS shows the state in the rail, the Inbox and the pane's title bar. The program needs no hook, no socket and no plugin.

tuios status working --app build --msg 'Compiling' --progress 40
tuios status blocked --kind permission --app deploy --msg 'Approve deploy to production?'
tuios status done --app build --msg 'Built 12 crates'
tuios status --clear

The states are idle, working, done, blocked (with the kind permission, question or auth), error and clear.

Read the full page at tuios.dev/docs/program-status. It covers the keys a program sends, how TUIOS shows each state, the ? query, how long a record stays, and the limits. The specification is at superlogical.com/rex/docs/build/program-status.
