Releases: GawdMode/PokeSurvive
Release list
🏕️ PokeSurvive v2.1.5 — Prompt Fix/Performance Tweaks
All 24 PokeSurvive YES/NO prompts now start on YES, including camping, purchases, gifts, field tools, phone exchanges, friendly battles, emergent battles, and camp decisions across Red, Gold, and Crystal. Retains the performance improvements and Neo Nursery compatibility.
🏕️ PokeSurvive v2.1.2 — NN Compatibility Fix
Creates compatibility with an upcoming mod :)
🏕️ PokeSurvive v2.1.1 — Performance Tweaks
PokeSurvive v2.1.1 is a focused performance update for the complete Pokémon Crystal Living World, built and tested against gen1recomp 0.3.8.
Gen1Recomp handles accelerated play by executing multiple 60 Hz game-logic steps before each displayed frame. Although PokeSurvive already limited resident movement and offscreen pathfinding work, several background services were still being called repeatedly at higher game speeds.
- Performance improvements
- Limited resident roster synchronization to one service pass per displayed frame
- Bounded resident phone, visitor, proximity-chatter, and conversation checks
- Reduced repeated autonomous resident-battle bookkeeping
- Bounded weather publication and audio-state maintenance
- Reduced repeated randomizer, breeding, field-return, and Adventure-event housekeeping
- Preserved accumulated elapsed time for duration-sensitive systems
- Added incremental Lua garbage collection for Crystal to reduce occasional long-session pauses
- Retained the existing resident-state, pathfinding, arrival-route, and reachable-area caches
Resident movement, schedules, relationships, conversations, Pokémon development, catching, training, battles, weather, and Adventure Events remain fully enabled. Nothing was removed or simplified to achieve these improvements.
Existing PokeSurvive 2.0 and 2.1 saves remain compatible and continue in place.
Extremely high speed multipliers still require the engine to process several complete game ticks per displayed frame, so available CPU performance ultimately determines the ceiling. Version 2.1.1 removes much of PokeSurvive’s remaining avoidable workload from that multiplied path, producing steadier movement and fewer intermittent hitches during accelerated play.
🏕️ PokeSurvive v1.3.3 — Battle Factory Remix Compatibility Update
A small PokeSurvive compatibility update is available alongside Battle Factory Remix v1.1.0.
BFR v1.1.0 introduces 17 new Custom Machine moves, one for every Pokémon type. Because PokeSurvive's move randomizer can draw from moves registered by other mods, these Factory-exclusive moves could occasionally appear in the randomized movesets of normal trainers.
This update prevents BFR Custom Machine moves from entering PokeSurvive's normal randomized move pool while preserving their intended functionality.
With the fix:
Normal randomized trainers will no longer unexpectedly use BFR Custom Machine moves.
PokeSurvive's randomized natural learnsets will not roll BFR Custom Machines.
Custom Machines legitimately taught to your own Pokémon continue to work normally.
Battle Factory rentals and opponents can still use the new moves as intended.
If you're using PokeSurvive + Battle Factory Remix v1.1.0, please update PokeSurvive as well.
🏕️ PokeSurvive v1.3.2 — Mutant Monster Lab Integration
Mutant Monster Lab
Players using Mutant Monster Lab can now become GLITCHED through Lab experimentation.
Normal splicing has a small chance to trigger the mood, while activating the Holon Collider guarantees it.
GLITCHED causes unpredictable stat changes every battle turn alongside harmless visual and audio corruption in the overworld.
🏕️ PokeSurvive v1.2.0 — Angler's Cove Aquarium Integration
This update includes full optional Angler's Cove Aquarium integration, while keeping the standalone Crystal experience intact.
What's new
- Angler's Cove Aquarium integration for Crystal
- Randomized fishing species can be caught through Fishing 2.0 and deposited into the aquarium.
- Randomized Pokémon use Crystal menu-icon art and generic swimming profiles when they do not have a curated aquatic profile.
- Randomized type palettes carry into Fishing 2.0 and the aquarium while preserving black outlines.
- Fishing outcomes can drain PokeSurvive Energy.
- New Fishy mood integration, including its custom thought bubble, a small Fishing 2.0 attraction-radius bonus, and increased ordinary encounter pressure. Watching the aquarium or fishing can occasionally trigger the Fishy mood.
QoL
- Rods work through both registered SELECT use and Pack → USE.
PokeSurvive still works normally without PokeSurvive installed or enabled.
🏕️ PokeSurvive v1.1.2 — Random Seed Hotfix
Fixed the Pokémon Red mod-settings seed field being limited to 7 characters. Full 10-digit PokeSurvive seeds should now be able to be entered correctly, including on Android.
🏕️ PokeSurvive v1.1.1 — Battle Factory Remix Compatibility
PokeSurvive v1.1.1 is a compatibility and maintenance update focused on integration with the newly released Battle Factory Remix mod, along with fixes and improvements for Red and Crystal.
Battle Factory Remix Compatibility
PokeSurvive can now be used alongside Battle Factory Remix.
When both mods are enabled, PokeSurvive recognizes temporary Factory rentals and battles and prevents its normal survival/randomizer systems from interfering with them.
This includes compatibility safeguards for:
- Factory rental Pokémon
- Factory opponent teams
- Randomized Factory typings and palettes
- Nuzlocke/permadeath behavior
- Survival meter drain
- Morale and Mood effects
- PokeSurvive's normal Pokémon randomizer
Battle Factory Remix remains a completely optional, standalone mod with its own progression and BP systems.
Run Seed Display
The active PokeSurvive randomizer seed can now be viewed directly from the SURVIVE menu, making it easier to record, share, or replay randomized runs.
Pokémon Red Fixes
- Fixed SURVIVE sometimes failing to appear in the START menu on existing or previously unconfigured Red saves.
- Restored the intended one-time PokeSurvive setup flow for compatible existing saves.
- Removed leftover Battle Factory development/testing bootstrap behavior from the Red version.
Crystal
- Maintains full PokeSurvive functionality in Pokémon Crystal.
- Added the necessary isolation for Battle Factory Remix's temporary rental and battle systems.
Compatibility
PokeSurvive v1.1.1 supports:
- Pokémon Red
- Pokémon Gold
- Pokémon Crystal
- Pokémon Recomp
- Optional Battle Factory Remix integration
Thank you for playing and testing PokeSurvive!
🏕️ PokeSurvive v1.1.0 — Crystal Compatibility
Pokémon Crystal has joined PokeSurvive! 💎
PokeSurvive now supports Pokémon Red, Gold, and Crystal through a single unified installation.
This update brings the full PokeSurvive experience to Crystal, including Survival, Camping, Personalities, Adventure Events, Game Time, Permadeath, and the complete randomizer.
Also included:
- Fixed a Crystal-specific battle animation visual bug.
- Major legendary/story Pokémon are now excluded from ordinary random encounters, keeping encounters like Crystal's Suicune special while still allowing their types, stats, moves, and colors to be randomized.
- Various compatibility fixes for the new Crystal release.
One mod. Three games. Have fun surviving!
🏕️ PokeSurvive v1.0.0 — Unified Release
After a whole lot of development, testing, rebuilding, balancing, breaking things, and putting them back together again, PokeSurvive 1.0 is here!
This is the first full release of PokeSurvive and, for the first time, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Gold are included together in a single unified mod package.
PokeSurvive began as an experiment in adding survival mechanics to Pokémon and has grown into a much larger overhaul built around survival, randomized worlds, Pokémon personalities, exploration events, camping, resource management, and the idea that the journey between Gyms should matter just as much as the battles themselves.
🔴 + 🟡 One Mod, Two Games
You no longer need separate PokeSurvive downloads for Red and Gold.
Install PokeSurvive v1.0.0 and the mod automatically loads the appropriate implementation for the game you're playing.
Both versions now share the same core PokeSurvive experience, while Gold retains features that specifically take advantage of Generation II mechanics.
🌲 The PokeSurvive Experience
Manage Sustenance, Energy, and Morale as you travel.
Camp to recover, forage for supplies, cook food, tend to your Pokémon, or risk unexpected events during the night.
Your Pokémon develop individual Personalities that influence Checkups, Camping, Adventure Events, and how they interact with the world and each other.
Exploration can produce contextual Adventure Events based on your location, party, personalities, survival condition, and other circumstances.
Optional Permadeath can make losing a Pokémon permanent.
And PokeSurvive's seeded randomizer can transform Pokémon species, types, colors, stats, moves, TM/HM compatibility, Trainer parties, Gym teams, and more.
The result is a Pokémon journey where two seeds can feel like completely different worlds.
🧠 Expanded Personality System
Red and Gold now share the expanded Personality roster:
- Loyal
- Bold
- Inquisitive
- Lazy
- Playful
- Timid
- Stubborn
- Aggressive
- Mischievous
- Brainiac
- Performer
- Gentle
Personalities affect Checkups, Camping, Adventure Events, pair interactions, and numerous flavor and mechanical outcomes.
Pokémon aren't just battle pieces anymore. Your party can argue, investigate, wander off, help around camp, cause trouble, discover things, and react differently to the same situation.
🌲 Expanded Adventure & Camping Events
Red has received a major parity pass bringing over meaningful systems developed during Gold's development.
Both games now feature expanded:
- Solo Pokémon Adventure Events
- Multi-Pokémon interactions
- Personality-specific events
- Environment-aware events
- Survival-pressure events
- Personality-driven Camping
- Camp pair interactions
- Morale outcomes
- Meter feedback
Event feedback has also been standardized so changes to Sustenance, Energy, and Morale clearly communicate both the change and the resulting meter value.
❤️ Morale Rebalance
Morale has received a broader balance pass.
0 Morale is neutral, and Morale can extend into negative values after genuine setbacks.
Positive Morale gradually drifts toward 0 while traveling, with very high Morale fading more quickly.
Wild Pokémon victories no longer provide Morale, preventing easy grinding against weak encounters.
Maintaining high Morale now encourages actually engaging with Pokémon Checkups, Camping, Trainer battles, Adventure Events, and the rest of PokeSurvive's systems.
✉️ Gold: Emergent Encounters
Pokémon Gold includes the new Emergent Encounter system.
While exploring Johto, you may unexpectedly receive a Pokégear call or have one of your Pokémon discover a strange piece of Mail.
These messages can direct you toward another location where a temporary traveler has appeared.
Reach them before the opportunity expires and you may encounter different NPC archetypes, dialogue, small stories, and rewards including:
- Money
- Morale
- Valuables
- Evolution items
- Vitamins
- Held items
- Battle supplies
- Other useful finds
Pokémon-found messages are represented by actual held Mail that can be read from the Pokémon's status screen.
There are no quest markers. Remember where you're supposed to go and decide whether the detour is worth making.
🕐 Gold: Step-Driven Game Time
Gold can optionally disconnect its clock from real-world time.
With Game Time enabled:
- 10 steps = 1 in-game minute
- 600 steps = 1 in-game hour
- Camping advances time by 8 hours
- Morning, day, and night continue responding normally to the resulting clock
Travel and rest can therefore determine what time of day you reach your destination.
🥚 Gold: Expanded Breeding
Gold's breeding system participates in the PokeSurvive randomizer.
Offspring can inherit and recombine parental species, randomized types, palettes, moves, and other characteristics.
Gift Eggs are randomized independently as well, meaning a Pokémon hatched from a special Egg can be completely different from the same species encountered elsewhere in the world.
Egg identities remain concealed from Personality, Checkup, Camping, and Adventure Event systems until they hatch.
🔄 Trade-Free Evolutions
PokeSurvive removes the requirement for link trading to complete trade-evolution families.
Pokémon that normally evolve through a basic trade can evolve through PokeSurvive's Level 40 alternative.
In Gold, Pokémon that normally require being traded while holding a specific evolution item can evolve at Level 40 or higher while holding that item. The item is consumed when evolution succeeds.
🧰 Gold: Survival Tools
Gold includes permanent Survival Tools corresponding to field abilities such as:
- Cut
- Fly
- Surf
- Strength
- Flash
- Whirlpool
- Waterfall
Tools unlock alongside the appropriate story progression and provide survival-equipment alternatives without bypassing normal progression requirements.
🎲 Seeded Randomized Worlds
Depending on your selected run settings, PokeSurvive can randomize:
- Wild Pokémon
- Starters
- Pokémon types
- Dual-type combinations
- Type-based palettes
- Stats and stat distributions
- Learnsets
- Move progression
- TM/HM compatibility
- Trainer parties
- Gym teams and specialties
- Major Trainer rosters
- Breeding outcomes
- Gift Pokémon
- Other run systems
Your seed is recorded in the Journal so particularly interesting worlds can be shared and replayed.
🛠️ 1.0 Release Cleanup
The unified release also includes a final polish and parity pass:
- Unified Red + Gold package
- Red feature-parity expansion
- Expanded Personalities in Red
- Expanded Checkups, Camping, and Adventure Events
- Standardized SURVIVE dashboard presentation
- Standardized meter feedback
- Camping feedback duplication fixes
- Morale balance improvements
- Trade-evolution alternatives
- Dialogue and currency formatting cleanup
- Development and testing menus removed
- Unified versioning and update metadata
⚠️ Compatibility
PokeSurvive is a large gameplay overhaul.
Compatibility with arbitrary third-party mods cannot be guaranteed. If you encounter a problem while running multiple mods, please try reproducing it with PokeSurvive enabled by itself before submitting a bug report.
If you're upgrading from one of the older separate Red or Gold PokeSurvive releases, a clean replacement of the old PokeSurvive installation is recommended if your launcher does not replace it automatically.
🐛 Bug Reports

Thank you to everyone who tested the beta builds, reported weird behavior, shared feedback, showcased the mod, or simply played it.
PokeSurvive v1.0.0 is the first complete unified release, but it isn't the end of support. Bugs will be fixed, balance can continue to evolve, and good ideas are always welcome.
Have fun out there.
And remember to pack some food.
